It can't hurt to contact the seller and ask him (politely) to absorb some of the cost for repairs. If he's any kind of honest guy, he'll admit that he misled you and cough up a few bucks.

If he says "no", you're only out the cost of a phone call.

Next time fly out and inspect the car before you pull the trigger.

I bought an e46 convertible for my better half from a large online seller a few months ago, and we flew in to Houston, picked up the car, then spent a night in New Orleans on the way home.

Meals, French Quarter hotel room, plane tix, and gas (for two of us) for the return trip totalled around $600.

I also flew out to Pasadena a couple of years ago and drove her e30 vert back here, and we only spent around $500 for that trip. Did it in two days.

You know it's not just the odometer at this point, it's that I need a brand new top, that wasn't mentioned, and there are holes in the seat that weren't mentioned, and was told the top was in great shape, and there were no rips in the interior.

In Oregon, after 9 years, odometer readings don't even have to be accurate anymore.

So, have you checked out the Downing/Atlanta supercharger kit for the M42?

Well spoken, thank you, I really appreciate that. Apologies to Turf for misunderstanding his comment, I've edited my original post regarding that. I'm going to tally up and itemize the unmentioned defects, and ask for a credit. It doesn't hurt to try. In the meantime, I just got back from a ride, and the engine purrrs.. The 318 doese have a little bite to her in the higher rpms in 3rd+ gears!

    So, back on topic...

I do think since you bought something sight unseen, quite a bit of the onus is on you...but that does sound like some seriously unscrupulous selling, IMO. I don't know if that would constitute mail fraud or not.

    Maybe worth a consultation?

Post up the ad, post up some pics, some of the sharper guys on here will likely make worthwhile contributions.

Either way, get with the haste thing. Time is of the essence on things like this.

    Good luck!

I can't imagine, your saying I'm the problem with this country and that I'm a waste of space, based on a poor decision and being unhappy with a seller who flat out lied. At least I hope your not referencing me, for the well fare of this country. I've bought several cars on ebay based on communication with the sellers being thorough and honest, with no problems at all. I don't think my concerns are crazy or causes me to be a waste of space. Thanks for the support, I don't believe I was asking for that kind.
