Found it!!!!
Quote from July 08 issue of BMW CAR of all things.
Page 68
"Bmw approached several european convertible specialists, such as Korman and Baur, to come up with a suitable hood mechanism for a fully convertible version of the e30 but in the end the firm of Shaer Waechter designed a top that met BMW's design briefs. It was a pretty complex affair, which included 28 bearings in its mechanism to smooth its operation, and was actually amazingly water-tight when new, although like most of its contemporary soft-top rivals it wouldn't take long for a bit of water ingress to occur from the top of the A pillars."

I was also under the impression Baur had designed it, and that you could get a full convertible as a Baur option. (not the TC)

I'm hunting for it in one of the to many books I have. Baur and another company were given the chance to design the soft top and Bmw went with the other company's design. I'm still looking though. Can't find it!

Not trying to be a dick, just asking an honest opinion, because other than the rear wheel fitment, I kinda like it.
I think the Baur is a very classy euro looking car. The m3 fenders give it a bit more of an agressive look to a more classy styling of car. I love Baurs and I love m3s, but the two to mesh well together, imo.
And I always think the m3 fenders look odd in the back of a regular e30 cause the trunk is lower and more rounded than that of a regular e30 m3.

I think it could be cool. That picture posted above is just a terrible example.

I think if you're gonna do all that work, you should do it to a vert or an m3. But I don't like baurs either. It would definitely be pretty unique.
