OMG that breaks my heart if its real. And I have a feeling it is real due to the cutouts for the side repeaters, and the age of where the Hartge badge would have been.

Good point. My guess is maybe it was imported and some stupid federalization laws or what ever you have over there, put diving boards on it. I've seen it done before of a euro 323i in the US.

Either way, if it had those side skirts on it, you can bet it had a heap of other cool stuff once upon a time... :(

Man, that blows. There appears to be a protective piece on the top of both rear fenders where a spoiler might have been, I wonder if some fancy Hartge spoiler used to reside there. If it's straight and non-rusty, it might be worth getting and sprucing up.

And, it's already in the salvage system. It's as good as lost.

    VIN reveals just a US-spec 6/87 ETA.

My guess is someone got their hands on a Hartge decal kit and proceeded to adhere it to the vehicle in question.

The other possibilty is that Performance Plus (the official Hartge importer in the 80's) modified it. The modified US E28s, so it is certainly possible they did something to this car.

May be interesting to find the back story...

    HTH,
    Ben
