    E36 cluster question

So my GF bought a 318i 95' U.S. version. What caught my eye (before buy the car) was the cluster at first sight. It got red needles and 8K tach , but not ///M little badge in there like the M3 E36 cluster, but I bet it's a M3 cluster (I really don't know if existed any special edition 318i U.S. with this cluster lol) and got 55K miles on it.

It's common practice import used cars from the states over here so I thought it was a unit with swapped cluster with less miles on it, so I didn't have any chance to see if really had 55k mile son it, but the engine looked untouched and healthy 210 PSI per cylinder.

Thing is, the stupid tach doesn't match with actual RPM of the engine, se we are looking at ebay some clusters (wich are cheap) and some are listed for 318, 325 and 328 (fits all engines) wich to me doesn't make much sesne since the tach isn't working right (not matching the actual RPM) due the cluster was made for 6 cyl engine and not 4 cyl.

Is there any way to check the cluster part number or model type to see if fit the 4 banger before bidding?

Don't worry about the millage, we can fix it here.

    Thanks

    -Diego
