newer BMW's suck

My friends moms e46 M3, at only 22k just had the hydraulic shifter or whatever that shifts for the DSG or whatever, go out and its like a 3k fix. BMW wont even pay for it to be fixed they will only pay for the part. And they are replacing the rod bearings and some other shit.

The e46 is such a piece of shit. And chris bangle can die in a firey blaze for making the completely doit and regular looking e90, that thing looks like every other car on the god damn road.

i dont mind newer bmws or newer cars in general... but i certainly wouldnt own one without a full warranty. BMW's warranty is great, for 4 years they cover everything including oil changes. But you can bet that at 3 years ad 6 months this thing is getting traded in on another new car.

that was my thought when i bought this as a CPO car. but then the warranty expired and i just wasnt ready to buy another car. oh well. i guess fixing them is cheaper than a 700 dollar car payment monthly

i agree, my brother just bought a 540i sport 6speed e39, its a really nice care, 1 week after he got it the cat went bad, and it makes a ticking noise somewhere up front. at the time he bought it there was an e34 540i 6speed for sale but he doesnt know shit about cars and wanted a newer car...

I feel the same about an E34s look, such a great shape and with clear corners and some nice smileys look modern while staying classic.

I heard they all have heated seats too, they just have to be plugged into a switch.

I am gonna build an M30 E34 for a cruiser.

I think the facelefted ones are just a pretty as anything today, smooth and fast enough.

I will add the navigation/bluetooth/seat heaters etc.

My mom's W210 E class has had 3 AC compressors, both cats replaced, a bunch of other less expensive crap, well more like stuff that doesn't cost over a grand. AC vents broke off, antennae broke off, half the gauge cluster doesn't light up, buttons falling off. Chewed through 4 sets of tires almost like a top fuel dragster. And this is a 6 year old car with about 45,000 miles driven by my mom. Also the leather seats are cracked and all the dye is peeling off, car is always garaged too. Have you seen how many of their clear coats are peeling after 4 years? I think thats because of EPA regulations though. Oh yea I think her power steering or something is fucked too because the wheel won't return to center after a turn, I have to physically turn it back.

Audis are just as bad, detailed an 01-02 A4 for a friend and the interior is falling apart. She is amazed my car is older than she is and still works. Other friend's TT sucks too. Too bad because new Audis are probably the best looking cars out right now. Love those big front ends.

naw, i think im done. ill probably hang onto this until the economy bounces back (soon i hope) and then look at something japanese for her. she likes a fast car thats comfortable but those are her real only needs. it can be FWD and she wouldnt even know i dont think. maybe a big lexus sedan thats a few years old or something

the valve cover gaskets are a known problem with BMW V8's

I maintain that BMW officially died in 2002 when bangle facelifted the 3 series (even though it has grown on me since then)

I feel you, although just with the pain of the E30.

Scheduled to take in monday for the driveshaft and diff a few weeks ago, only to have the water pump lockup last week. Took a relatively cheap visit to a not so cheap one.
