    1/2 hp

    not worth the effort.

you know,i recall someone waaaay back when testing the STOCK airbox on a 325is with and without the 'horn' [velocity stack, if you will] that is inside the STOCK airbox. And what did they find? The airbox without the horn made LESS power than with. Something to the order of 5ftlbs at the rear wheels. okay, maybe not that much, but less no matter the case.

The designers at BMW back in the 80's made a far better product than the shade tree mechanic visiting Home Depot. A+ for effort!

I'm sure 25 degrees counts for something, and I'm sure if it was cooler outside the difference would be even greater.

just a small update, it kept my filter at almost the EXACT same temp as outside. which is great, it was 68* and my IAT was 68*. with out shield or hose the filter went upto 98* while driving.

I'm impressed with your sketchup drawing. I used it for 9 months to do interior design and arch design work. I made some really cool stuff, and blew away a few clients with a real nice walkthough of a commercial building.

However, I would never be able to do something like that. I didn't venture very far into add-ons, which is prolly my problem. Have any good ones you can suggest?

I went on a drive and just touching the filter and it feels cooler, I'll get real temperature reading eventually. plenty of air comes out of that tube,if nothing else its a cooling duct.
    and I repainted lip.

more pics? it looks ,like you actually cut a hole though.

I'll go get a velocity stack and mount it back there. I'l paint it flat black so it looks invisible.
