Retail store managers are notorious for being bitches. I am a supervisor at a retail store and have met a lot of managers. I think i have met one in my whole district that isn't a crazy monster power whore. My buddy works at a different store and i know he is a good worker. Just got fired because the manager their and him had a "Personal" confrontation. He got set up and everything. The manager told everyone that he was trying to find a new job and put in his two weeks notice before he fired him. He was a really good worker and everyone loved him so he had to lie so they didn't get pissed. (now there is only 1 supervisor there running photo poor guy).
So while YES the problem could be you, maybe who knows, but i will also agree retail managers are breeded to make employees lives harder. The key is to make sure they know they need you. But you gotta get through the trial period first. I fuck up ALL the time my job will never be in danger because for now i am needed. But not even my luck will last forever so i am starting to shape up lol.

Sorry to hear it. If you were the issue or if they were the issue it doesn't change your circumstances now. From this point forward you'll be on guard not to make those mistakes again, and we all know the economy is tanking, and that's not just talk, it's reality.
I'd guess that indeed Target is thinning the herd, even for the holiday season.
I don't have any suggestions on jobs, mine is rather involved to get into. I teach High School Science.
My suggestion is to pound the pavement and apply absolutely everywhere. Retail isn't easy but if it pays the bills then GREAT! You'll need to wear your best clothes, put on your best "amazing worker" persona every single dang day and get it done. If you beat out the others with your work ethic you'll eventually see successes.

You seem personable and articulate from our brief meeting for me to say that if you showed me drive, sincerity, work ethic and suitable skill that there's no reason I wouldn't hire you for any of those beginner positions.

Keep your chin up, put your game face on and don't have too much pride to stay with your family if you need to, till you can change your situation.

    Good luck, I've been there.

Start fucking old women for money, then get your ass back in school and get an education.

Not necessarily a university, a trade or technical school would be a great idea as well. You need to have some skills if you are ever going to get well paying jobs.

Very true. Also the more you get paid the fatter you get. Back when i was working i weighed almost 260lbs. Now that i'm unemployed i weigh 185. And its not cause i can't afford to eat cause i get free groceries.

Try seasonal work at UPS or Fedex loading trucks. Labor intensive, but good hourly pay to hold you over, if you are in good shape. It's ass busting work.

I do not know about you, but who cares what others say on which service you enter. It's your career and your life, not theirs. If your 'uncle' would DQ you on Marines, there are others who are probly better suited for you. Marines are tough.....all the other services could say is "No". No harm done. But you have not even tried. In fact, with you not even trying, you are already considered a failure.....is this what you want in your life?:(

I wasnt hired for seasonal, my group was one of the last groups to be hired before they started doing their seasonal hiring. I don't really want to do retail, to be honest.
