Agreed^ id love to find someone willing to make and sell a skid plate that will just bolt on to stock mounting points.

Ok I said the hartge "LOOKS LIKE" OEM not that it IS OEM. Thats why the title to this thread is Hartge designed oilpan guard. Which infers that I am aware this oilpan guard is designed by Hartge not BMW.

My other point is that the Hartge is designed similar to the factory OEM guard which uses existing mounting points which do not require additional drilling.

I am also aware there is a existing design which requires drilling into the radiator support.

Given that the OEM designed is difficult to obtain, and some report that it is NLA, I wanted to present another idea of what could be made so that other anal owners like myself who live in the rustbelt Ohio, could refrain from drilling additional holes and turning our cars into rustbuckets.

You drill into the radiator support, not the subframe. The rear of it uses the steering rack mounting bolts.

Hey, I recognise that pan guard, bolts to the grounding lugs like the old OE aggregate guard. They were made for Hargte, Alpina and Bauer.

Nice. There's a guy on e30tech that is producing skid plates that have a bar like that one.. they look super beefy.
