    Story behind the car:

This car was originally owned by and sorted mechanically by Matt (Mr325) before it moved from California to Florida. I got it from Alex (Collins380), where it mostly sat for a couple years. Anyone who saw it before knows it was just a cool little early euro car that was meant to be driven hard and not taken too seriously. I’ve always though that the M-Tech 1 cars were the best looking of any non-M3 car, so when Alex offered the MT1 kit with it I had to take advantage.

I bought it from Alex in June 2020 and had him ship it up to NY without ever seeing it in person. It was pretty nerve wracking buying a car sight unseen, but thankfully there were no surprises. It needed some TLC to get back up to roadworthy but nothing unexpected.

I originally wanted to keep it with the roached out paint and mismatched MT1 kit for a while, but my now wife shamed me into getting it painted that winter. I still don’t know how I got lucky enough to have someone suggest I get it painted the winter before we got married. It really spiraled out of control at that point and now I have the type of car I’ve been dreaming about for the past 8 years. My dream was always to build an e30 equivalent of a 911 outlaw, and I’m happy where I’m at.

I’ve always been inspired by the cars and people on R3V ( I’ve been hoping to have a car worth of car of the month since 2014). I’m glad to have taken this car to the next level and share it with this community. Thanks to everyone that’s helped along the way, this community made it possible.

Thanks for the feature and kind words! I wasn't great about documenting every little detail along the way, but here is what exists for the build thread:

Looking forward to enjoying the car and continuing to improve it, thanks R3V!

Congrats! It looks super clean with the fresh paint job! I remember going up to E30Picnic and seeing this car there right after the motor was built.
