I was never a fan of the rust thing. I thought it was stupid and honestly I still think it's stupid. I looked at that E28 and remembered the one in his sig and shed a tear, I really did. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It's not really a full resurrection, it's more like the old E28 caught the zombie swine flu (zwine flu?) and now it's back with its flesh hanging off its bones. So, a few comments on my opinion of the style, my two cents if you will.

1. I never really liked the "stupid camber in back, mediocre camber up front." If you're going to camber it keep it even all the way around. At least then it's functional too and you don't have no contact patch on the drive tires and an assload of understeer.
2. Not a fan of tucking wheel. If you're tucking wheel, you're not flush enough--I know that with the lower rear arches you can't have an even fender gap around without a raked stance, but it just looks stupid to me.
3. Please give those BBS back to the E24. They don't look bad at all on this car but they went perfect with the shark.

All of that said, it's a ratty as fuck looking car with what I can only assume to be a great suspension setup (what suspension are you running?) and some blingity-ass wheels. Did it "earn" the ratty appearance through years of abuse? No, but the owner didn't give a shit enough to try and give it a "proper resurrection" after it was totalled--he said fuck it, I'm not repainting shit, I'm not getting new body panels, I'm not even going to replace the windshield or straighten the A pillar, I'm just going to rust it out and keep driving it. And fuck it, I like it.

It's a lot like getting some pre-worn out jeans, or "distressed" as the fashion people say. Glad it floats your boat, but it's not on par with a real rat rod in my book.

Yeah, but who is viewed as being fashionable? People with shit jeans or people that buy nice jeans that are "distressed."

I think the super nice wheels make the car for sure. I'd love to see it in person.
