I think you missed his point. Since this car can only be viewed aesthetically at this point, has giving his opinion of its aesthetics. The part about the E30 M3 race cars was simply to reiterate that the ridiculously low ride hight of the op's car cannot be argued as functional, only cosmetically which is purely opinionated. -
it's all about not going over speed bumps and certain drive ways. My car isn't low compared to his, but I still don't go over some speed bumps and drive ways/parking lots. when I do go over speed bumps, I scrape usually, it's great fun, you should try it!
also, I think this car works on 17's cause he's tucking rim. those wheels aren't really my bag to be honest, but I think they'd look better painted a solid color, something that's bold... not silver.Leave a comment:

I agree, its not because it doesn't look like 90% of the others on the board, but its the methods and ideology.
He hates bags solely because he thinks that you have to drive with it all the bags inflated and then park with the bags deflated. I can understand if he doesn't have enough money to do bags as well, thats fine we all have budgets. But driving around at that level and thinking its "cool" because its so low is pure half-ass, immature thinking.
Then the whole dragging exhaust thing (which I'm sure will lead to injuring a person following behind him when something falls off) that he thinks is soooo uber cool.
Its guys like this that are the reasons why insurance rates are so high when they do stupid stuff to their cars and wonder why they wreck or injure someone.
Enough of this rant, you came to this forum to show off your stuff and all I am is another opinion. I'm not your mother so take this as my $0.02. Its my own, and we all have one.Leave a comment:

It has nothing to do with the fact that it isn't like all the other ones on the site. It's that it's technically undriveable with the way he's describing it and he's acting like because his car is so low, it's automagically cooler/better than other cars. Like EVO M3's aren't that big a deal because he's tucking more tire than them.

Because sacrificing function that much in the name of personal aesthetic appeal (heavy stress on personal, I for one find it very bad looking but that part is just my opinion) should not be at the top of many people's lists: cars are devices which exist to be driven as a primary purpose.
Furthermore, having that little knowledge about the E30's history and what and how makes it work and still modifying that to that extent leaves me even more perplexed.
I do realise it takes all kinds, but I believe I have as much right to an opinion on a public forum as the OP, right?Leave a comment:

Your argument is completely irrelevant. The guy never said he was building a race car, so why should he care about touring car ride heights and win percentages?Yes, that would be the problem: you don't understand what he means.
Those cars are Sport Evo M3s in racing trim. In that configuration or previous equivalent onesthey had a win percentage which, I believe, still remains unmatched. BMW ran them as works cars from 1987 to 1991 and that is a very significant portion of why an M3 is considered an M3 and a BMW is considered the way it is today.
The point is, if there were any need to go any lower, those cars would be lower. They are not.
So your car is lowered for looks, to the obvious detriment of function. And as such, posted on a public forum, it's subject to be judged on looks alone. On that basis, I concur with the previous poster: it looks ridiculous on top of being undeniably ruined functionally. If you like it, more power to you, but by posting on a forum you did invite opinions. This is mine.Leave a comment:

Josh are you actually saying that if you're e30 was white, you would still run the things you just listed above as 'going to have'?So a car that is ok with you can't have any of these items? Because pretty soon, my car is also going to have red calipers and a light tint, and my lip is already painted.
But if that isn't your idea of how a E30 should be good, then too fucking bad for you. It's not your car. You and your list of "acceptable and not acceptable" items for an E30 can get bent. And the same goes for the rest of the self-proclaimed "what's ok on an E30" police in this thread.
Or would you have painted it flat white, and spray-bombed your wheels flat black. No, because you have taste.
It is his car and he is able to do what he wants with it, But if no one honestly tells you, "Hey that looks like shit." now and then, how would we be able to refine our tastes into building a cleaner car?

I just keep reading the same thing, over and over and over again.

How bout you measure how much ground clearance you have at the subframe then? That's probably the most "universal". You could probably have the frame on the ground before tucking tire depending on wheel/tire size.
OP you can't be serious, you drag the exhaust, you can't go up driveways or speedbumps without locking up one tire and doing a peg-leg burnout, and you actually think your car is cool?

Yes, if i had a big ass is lip it would sit on the ground. You cant measure ground clearence using that. However, tucking tire is way more universal, (except in a special edition super rare m3 race car) although yes i know the whole late model early model fender difference thing. For example, if your not tucking tire, your probably not very low. But, if your tucking wheel, your probably extremely low! Crazy!
All of those cars have evo front fenders, which have atleast 1.5"-2" higher arch clearance than your car.
You say measuring ride height by the front lip is wrong, Yet its ok for you to judge it by how much "tire is tucked" under the fender.. ?
It's the same shit... These arguments are always the SAME, and everyone takes it so srsLeave a comment:
