Let me be more clear, I may have misrepresented myself. I'm not opposed to mods. I only like the vintage stock look, physically speaking. I am not opposed to performance mods. Engine upgrades, suspension, transmission, you name it. I plan on doing some of that myself. I'm just a sucker for chrome.
And by chrome I don't mean extra chrome. I hate it when people add extra chrome to their doors or pillars, or fake air vents, or whatever. I think the designers at BMW put a tasteful amount of chrome on their early model e30's, just around the window trim and the bumpers.
And while I like the classic old school look of the bottlecaps, I must admit I am tempted by the better performance and handling of a nice set of Euroweaves.Last edited by BrooklynMW; 08-12-2010, 01:41 PM.Leave a comment:

Well I hate the bottle caps and the diving boards. It looks like asshole in my opinion. buuuut since it's 100% stock looking that makes it a fun beater. IF I keep this car after I graduate it will be looking different, but for the next two years I don't need to be spending more money on it. I miss how it looked before.
Ah, shame. And here I thought I met a fellow stock purist. . . . . Oh well, your car still looks good to me.
And by the way, the only time my car looks like asshole is when I'm sitting in the driver's seatLeave a comment:

I'm trying to slowly restore mine, also an '87 DD. I, too am a bone stock fan. Don't let anyone bully you into losing your db's or bottlecaps.
It's nice to have a sleeper. When dudes in Maximas pull alongside my jalopy and attempt to wipe my face in the pavement, they get another thing comin' . . . . and i'm still rockin an m20.
Here is a shot from tonight:

haha. It's awesome to have it on the road. thanks
thanks man. I forget that it still is "lowered" technically. Seems 4x4 to me.
It can work. But it just wasn't worth it to me. Oil pan plus exhaust is so low, and hurting my susp geo and ruining my tires just doesn't sound appealing when I'm low on funds and kind of tired of working on the car at the moment. It's nice just to get in it and not worry, but drive the shit out of it.Leave a comment:

With Bottlecaps, IMO that is as low as the car should go, like you said, they look retarded. But the car is looking good, color is very nice.Leave a comment:
