i tend to agree with this. i was running 205/40s up front and 215s out back and the car always looked under-rubbered to me. a friend ran 215s and 225s on his car with the same size wheels and it made all the difference in the world, visually.

interested to see the finished product, even though i feel like air on e30s is sacrilege. :p

205/40 has too small of an outer diameter IMO

I gotta agree with Stephen. Even though you could obviously pull off 205/40s, they just don't fill up the wheel well on 16's. At least IMO. I started with 205/40s and had to go for 205/45s instead.

Im trying to keep the outer diameter as small as possible in efforts to gain that extra bit of low. Keep the ride height super low and only air up to clear obstacles in the road. Thats one of the reason I went with air instead of static. There are areas of the northeast where the roads are absolute shit, and driveways/parking lots i wouldnt be able to pull into. drive low, park lower, only air up if I have to

it just looks weird in comparison to the wheel wells IMO, regardless of how much you tuck on top, there can be gap on the sides

205/45 all around would work, you could go wider in the rear if you dont want uneven stretch. you could do 215/40 in the rear, but as i recall that's a hair shorter overall then the 205/45

Ideally, i want to keep the stretch the same front and rear. Im out of my mind when it comes to symmetry
