We had a kid like this on the old Honda Prelude forums. Didn't listen to anyone's advice. I actually remember his name, M0nStar. Ended up crashing his car, then got one of the last gen celica's.

We peeked in on him in the Celica Forums and the same thing happened there.

This reminds me of the story of "Turbotoaster" on SELOC - tried to build a turbo K-Series with huge amounts of power and huge amounts of downforce and bought cheapest Ebay parts and what not all.
People kept telling him the things he's doing won't work at all / are outright dangerous and the car will burn down sooner or later.
True to his name, the car burned down shortly after because of all the reasons people told him.


Turned out he was already known in a similar way on (i believe) a Mazda forum for trying to build a 200+ mph car on a budget with a similar outcome.



Just like here: he put an enormous effort in but never took advice from anyone to the point of stupidity. And now i'm sitting here to decide if i should feel sorry for this guy.

Or....you know.....admit your wrong when building a 333i, and install an electric fan like it was meant to have. Sigh. Oh well. It's just a funny story at this point. Some r3v history.

Ouch - perhaps it bump steered like mad then, it's not like an M30 swap is THAT powerful that you can't control the car! Then again, if he were on 318i suspension the front would have been pretty floaty with the 45mm struts etc.

If you were to attempt something similar today, it'd be pretty straight forward with subframe spacers, and a bump steer correction kit (like a V8 swap).

maybe he busted the oil pan first and spun out. that's like a 3'' notch closer to the ground. BANG

The first drive in the car he lost control and put it into a ditch. It's documented in another thread. Last I heard of him, a neighbor said he was driving one of those Fiat "smart cars" and on year 3 of interning trying to land a job.

^ i was at the same junkyard i think and saw his engine piled with other junk engine in a bin. Saw all the plated bolts and knew it was his right away.

Clean looking car but he probably hit something and didn't want any i told you so's and never posted again. Good history right here.

lol... in 2018 I think a viscous fan is doable without needing to notch the subframe :) That said, in the pics there, it looks to have held up ok with the M30 twisting on it (I wonder how long it was on the road for?)

Thinking about refitting my AC, and been looking at modding an e60 radiator to fit a viscous fan... with mods to the end tanks it should fit and be around half an inch slimmer than the ubiquitous e28 radiator we all use for M30 swaps. No mods to the e30 chassis required ;)
