this story is very similar to my first car when I was 16, a 1989 Bronzit 325ia. It had 67k on it when i bought it, it was pristine, original stickers in the windows, etc. It was like stepping into a time machine.
Then it got rear ended 2 years later... totaled.
Beautiful car, gl with it

thanks for the replies, I need to take some more pictures of some of the stuff that caught my eye upon closer inspection. for example:
- the tool kit still has all the original untouched tools along with the original key for the locking wheel nuts.
- the full size bottlecap spare with the original 1983 tire has never been touched
- The glove box contains the original owners manual and all other documentation, along with a 1983 road map and insurance card
It feels like a trip back in time driving this car, it even still has that genuine bmw leather smell that newer bmw's seem to have lost over the years.
The only thing that bothers me is that there is nothing to be done on this car. I loved working and improving on my previous E30's to get them close to their original condition, each improvement put a smile on my face knowing that I made the car better... on this there's nothing for me to do!:(
Someone mentioned how he thinks that it's amazing that cars stay in this condition over decades, and honestly it impresses me aswell. Even on my two year old 1 series I have managed to scuff the door panels, scratch the interior trim and chip paint off the door edges. This e30 does'nt have any of that... but it was obvious that the great grandmother babied this car excessively. The garage it was parked in had padded walls on both sides to avoid hitting the walls when opening the door to get out. the front seats were covered in sheep skin covers throughout the years. no one ever sat in the back seat. the car never had any cigarettes, food or beverages inside it. it was never used to haul anything.
how much this lady loved the car became obvious when the time came for me to drive off with it after i bought it... this lady cried infront of me and kept telling me to care for the car as much as she did, it was the last present her husband gave to her before passing away...

Don't you even dare fucking touch that car. Freeze it and put it into a time capsule. Then open said time capsule in 2000 years.

Amazing how well kept this thing is. My grandfather had this old Toyota Cressida that he kept in prestine condition. He used to leave the spare key inside the ignition at all times so he would never scratch off the original laquer on the master key by pulling it in and out of the ignition.
It's owners like these that you down hunt for when looking for a prestine condition car. This owner seems to be similar to my grandfather spending time dusting out the ac vents with a small paint brush.
