I had some noise in my LSD, both in my e30 M3 and my e34 M5, while the M3 went away with Castrol and LSD additive the M5 kept making noise in the U turns, changed to Redline stuff and noise went away, now is smooth! Awesome brand and high quality.Hi Diego, slept on it last night and now thinking of going 225/45/17 in the Michelin pilot super sports. I have them on my e46 m3 and they are good tires.
For the diff, I'll be using redline 75w90. Diff is stock afaik. Pretty sure it had royal purple in it.

That's what I'm running on the rear now and prefer the side wall height over the 215/40'sLeave a comment:

don't go with a 45 sidewall... it doesn't look right on the M3. I'm running 215 40 17 and the front looks perfect with that setup... i regret not going wider in the rear however, I think a 235 40 17 would look perfect, I'm just not sure if I'll end up with rubbing issues?Hi Diego, slept on it last night and now thinking of going 225/45/17 in the Michelin pilot super sports. Thanks for the info guys. I am going to order a set of 215/40/17 tomorrow. Im not sure if I want to roll my fenders and it looks like theres still a lot of room under those wide things.
Some work was done tonight, I removed the back brake assemblies including the lines. The intermediate (e30's have 6 rubber) lines look tough to get to, so I ordered a set of crowfeet sockets. Sure hope that does the trick, I don't feel like dropping the subframe. Rear diff fluid is also drained, waiting for Fridays package.
With 215/40 most likely you won't have to roll the fenders, you should be more than fine. The issue mostly is in the back with wider tires that rub in the fender, front not so much.
What fluid are you going to put in your LSD (assuming is stock)?Leave a comment:

My M3 use BBS CH ET15 with 235/40/17 (Star Spec) and I think it does look perfect, a good compromise between ride quality and look (too thin in these roads is a NO NO) but I'm running rolled fenders all arround. Front rub a bit at almost full lock with inner fender plastic but doesn't botter me.Leave a comment:

215/40/17 for the tires if you want a no issue fit.
You may get some manufacturers 235/40 in the front to fit, but 235/40 will fit the rear no problemLeave a comment:

Hey everyone, so I started to remove/inspect some of the parts I will be replacing Thurs/Fri to get a head start ( I'm flying to china for work on Saturday and would like to get it running before then).
I removed the plugs and wires so I could squirt some motor oil in the cylinders. I wanted the rings to soak a couple days prior to starting the motor. Plugs actually looked pretty good along with the motor oil, they must have been changed prior to the car sitting.
This morning I put the rear of the car on stands and pulled the back wheels off to inspect the brakes. They are rusted, but pads and rotors look fairly unused as well. My buddy also had just put ground control coil overs on the car right before it sat so I dont have to worry about springs/shocks.
Also, the black tape on the front bumper looks horrible. Can you guys recommend a method to remove it without damaging/scratching the paint/trim?
I will be looking at tires today, can you guys recommend good tires for the Style 5's? The wheels are square I believe and are 17"x8"

Thanks man. Do you have a build thread for the s54 swap? I'll be keeping the s14 for sure, but cool to see the swap.

Good Luck on the revival. I'm looking at a few E30 M3 rollers to tackle another S54 swap. Save up and rebuild the S14 you have.
I wuv these kind of threads*Leave a comment:

I saw that, tried to loosen it and it was on there pretty good. I didn't want to risk stripping it. In the case that it does come out, do you put Teflon tape on it when it goes back in, or some type of thread sealer?
I soaked it in PB blaster last night so I may try to get the rest out from there.
