I would like to know more of the history of my current possession I just got from a new member here on this forum. To replace my DD e30 since 1991!!! He really did not know too much about the car since he only had it for about two years. The interaction he had with the owner before him was only brief and did not find too much from him either...
SO here is what I can tell you about the car from what I see
It has the following mods:
Exterior:
17x7.5 Kopi Alpina wheels w/some kind of lug bolt lock
Smoked out rear tail lights
Smoked out side marker lights
Aftermarket plastic yellow fog lamps
Aftermarket Euro Ellipsoid smoked headlights with cross pattern High Beams
Stainless steel exhaust system
Aftermarket right and left running boards/side skirts
Aftermarket rear skirt
Blacked out front kidney grill with vertical M stripes
Engine bay:
A/C system looks like it was converted to R-134 has the ports screwed onto the the R12 port, system blows cool but not Artic cool.
alarm sensor mounted near the fusebox area
looks like a new starter, thermostat housing, was replaced not too long ago, paper barcode stickers are still present on them.
Valve cover looks like it was painted black, which is now flaking off
Interior:
Tinted windows all around and about 8-10 inches of tint on the front window
Current radio is a Kenwood KDC-x301
Previous radio was a Sony headunit install at "Cartunes"
rear speaker and grills have been replaced with aftermarket items
OBC light bulbs are out
Prestige Alarms system with Blue LED under the knee bolster area driver side, a disconnected valet/auto switch in glove box. The system is also wired to lock and unlock the door locks when activated or deactivated.
In the trunk:
Kenwood subwoofer with Kenwood subwoofer AMP
some other type of AMP to drive rear deck speakers
some type of crossover
all mounted on a piece of unfinished plywood
The spare is a OEM stock basket rim
Everything else is stock engine/trans/seats, etc...
If you were/know/knew the previous owner or maybe seen this e30 in a show/meet/shop please chime in...
The carfax shows this history of titles and possible owners, last 3 digits of the VIN is xxxx556
1/7/90 1st Owner Farmingdale
9/19/02 2nd Owner Farmingville
5/17/04 3rd Owner Ronkonkoma
2/2/09 4th Owner Medford, Ronkokoma, Lindenhurst
8/29/16 5th Owner Massapequa, Bellmore
The seller the I purchased this from was the 5th PO.
The carfax also indicated a "Total Loss" 11/20/2012, the PO said that, the PO he purchased from said the steering rack had a problem and went through insurance to deal with it and that's why it was a total loss...IDK... vin stickers are on both doors, trunk, left fender. Stock stickers are on both front strut housings. Paint is in good shape, signs of respray here and there. Dash has no cracks in it at all, looks too new possibly replaced. Sport seats are not too warn out. Drivers left bolster has been stitched up a little near the bottom.
From what I can tell from the car fax it has spent all its life on Long Island, NY. Most in Suffolk county, and recently further west.
The car has a bouncy idle at startup, I think the TPS needs replacement since I can not do the STOMP test on it. But after about 1 min of warming up the bounce goes away. The rear tail pipes may be a bit close to the rear apron, it rattles and hits it once in a while. Rear upper shock mounts squeak and will also be replaced when it get a little warmer. Timing belt was done 2012 as per conti sticker, will probably do that with the water pump soon. OBC led light board inbound via USPS!!!
TIA for your info and help!!!
BTW I love it, runs and rides well!!! did I say only has 114k miles on the odo...
