I'd just respray it same color. Unless your willing to pull the motor, your still going to have little niches you can see that will be the color that you couldn't reach.

Dont paint it any color than it already is...it will look awful when opening the doors or hood (unless your doing a FULL respray)

Yup. the taillights, and rust should be taken care of as of Saturday. I 'm flushing all the oils/fluids out Sunday afternoon. I'm thinking of finding the hood and trunk for cheap Saturday before the taillights cus I've found a local yard that only have BMW parts. So a hood and trunk will hopefully be purchased there.

Me and my friend will be doing a paintjob soon. He's got a carport thing at his house and we will be wrapping that up with the stuff you line your basement before you put drywall up and he's got the compressor, I've got a spray gun. But I need help with colors:

    1. Alpine White
    2. Black
    3. Metallic Grey

    Ignore the Naysayers

Welcome to R3VLimited and to E30 ownership!

Ignore the naysayers. They are just giving you a hard time--because that is what naysayers do! (As my dearly departed grandmother used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.")

If it is any consolation, I ALWAYS pay too much for my cars and sell them for too little. (We now have three E30s and one E28.) But that is not the point: you are not a car dealer, so don't worry about what you paid for it. Enjoy it, drive it, and have fun fixing it up!

As others have pointed out here before, if you find something you like and can afford, buy it and don't look back!

One of the best lines I remember here:

Your car is a piece of crap.

It's Ok, most others are too.

    Welcome.

---I don't know who said it originally, but it was great. Very fitting for most all welcomes.

That's still not what it means...

What you're calling it is exactly what Jordan described. What it actually is is a car that's going to sit in your garage while you fix it.

First thing to do would be to rip those tail lights out, and all the boot lining and find all the rust. I'd be stripping everything really. If there is rust there, it will be in a lot more places as well. $1500 is a bit steep, but if you are handy with doing rust repairs, you should be ok.

Ouch, i got my 87 with NO rust and 123k miles for 1200, but thats was a bit of a deal.

Welcome to R3V though and im sure it will make a good starter E30 or fixer upper. I have a trunk lid in darn good shape if you want it, i would give it to you if you payed for shipping+$5 but i might not be worth it considering its size and weight.
