Thank you, and yes, the hernias have been physically and mentally, a total pain.

I like your plan. Since my car is worthless and probably always will be, it might be a drift car someday as well.

I'm in the central Oregon area by the way. Like I said, I need a different place to work on stuff before I'd be able to commit to something as extensive as engine swapping someone else's car. A lot of wiring stuff is currently over my head as well, but I'm learning as I go. I could figure it out if you went carbed since I have my car as a reference. lol.

And thanks for liking my page, you must be the latest person on there. As soon as I get my two hernias repaired and get steady income again, I hope to really have quite a bit going on for "Dave's Muffler & More", even if it's just my own stuff.

    liked!
thats a lot better than a beaten m10.
i'm really considering turning my e21 into a drift car, contemplating either a 24v swap or maybe a lightweight American v8. fabrication of mounts and drive shafts and such is a little beyond me, as well as electronical shenanigans.
other than that i know how to do everything else (fasten bolts and whatnot haha)

basically something i could BAR here in cali so i wouldn't have to put it on a trailer to go to the race track. i have quite a bit of family in oregon and have been up there more than a few times, what area do you reside?

any way i could make an m10 powered trip to oregon and a rotary powered trip home this summer? ;) but seriously.

Thank you. My car puts out somewhere around 130 hp at the wheels according to some RX7 guy's dyno results with similar mods... although perhaps it has more with the holley on it now, but you have to account for the engine being old I'm sure. My CV's likely take away a tiny bit more power than a regular live axle as well. My car isn't super fast, but it sure has a respectable amount of power considering that it's around 2500 pounds and technically seats 5.

I'm also sure if I could find the time and have the facility to do it, your car could come to Oregon with an M10 and leave with a rotary or sorts. I'm sure it would be much less work the second time. lol.

I actually do some work for other people here and there, but not really officially at this point. I'd really like to rent out shop space for myself someday and have an LLC to do fab work and stuff on the side to take the edge off of rent and learn more along the way.

On this link you can see work I've done for other people, as well as some stuff I've done on my own projects: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Daves-...94703630594190

CHIF8008, thank you. I actually ended up getting an E21 because I found that free one that I ended up parting out. It was small, rear wheel drive, and I thought it had potential to look good and be low. I feel like the E21 chassis was a decent choice. I just wish the hood opened in the right direction.

reminds me of my brothers build on his e21. love the customization, especially to accommodate for the lows :)

about 6'1". my legs are kind of short for my height though, so there is that to deal with. My head was really close to the ceiling of the car with the way it was, having the sunroof doesn't help with that. Also, the E30 seats sat a little taller than the original seats did. now they sit even lower than stock, which is bawler. They still raise and lower too, so a short person could still drive the car. I drive with the seats all the way down though, because it's bawler.

    thanks man.

I forgot to post this, it sits a bit lower in the back, but this gives you an idea of what it's looking like these days.

I also lowered the seats 2". here's a pic of what I cut out:

    mock up comparison:

I'm not sure where I put the pics of the bracketry welded back in, but it was tricky, and it does happen to work.

I also broke the front ring and pinion on this, and I'm putting a cage on it soon. Basically, this means distractions form the E21. I'm also injured too.

I was looking at this thread, and I can't believe it's been around a year since I fixed the frame rails on my car. I'm very happy with how that's holding up. no problems what so ever.

a few things have been happening to this lately.

GM style ford alternator conversion. the belt slips on the pulley now... stupid chrome. sounds like a super charger, in an annoying way.

I went ahead and ground a bunch of useless material out of my spare intake manifold, took out stupid things like the shutter valve, welded some holes shut with the TIG, and made me a carb adapter like so:

It's not perfect, but it works.

    intake manifold comparison:

    And boom! holley 465 swap:

I finally got rid of the vacuum leaks and I'm getting it tuned decently. The car runs better than ever, I kid you not. Now if only I could manage my stupid belt squeak. I'm attempting to de-chrome my pulley in bleach, part of it is pitted now, so I might just need a bigger pulley for more surface area... preferably one that isn't chrome.

Thanks guys. The only real reason it's kind of for sale is that I've been getting a lot of Benz fever basically. part of me also wants to start over and do it all better the second time around... the left over vibration, that I now think is the diff is another reason for having it kind of for sale too. the more I drive it, the more I'm okay with nobody giving me an offer for buying it, so it's all good I guess.

speaking of things for sale though, the white wheels are for sale! they are a little out of true, and one has a small pot hole ding that was on it before I got it, but they are a pretty slick looking set of wheels for the money. I'm selling those both because they are a little out of true (they balance pretty close though) and because I want something wider... maybe in a 16.
