Levent I'm going to start a collection to buy you a better camera. Kish's car deserves cleaner pics. Hmm, maybe he can donate one to the cause?

Damn, just spent 20+min on a response to this only to lose it by the computer! Great to see GP do a SE30 (especially swap) build for next year. I do worry about ballast using a 318is chassis with no trunk tar and no sunroof equipment, however. It seems that the SE30 powers that be have made it feasible to only use a standard '87-'91 325i/is car. Early cars arn't competitive due to no ABS and 318is/M42 cars due to restrictions (A caged 318is is 100+ over min weight with full interior).
Early on, rules were that ballast was either in the standard 14" spare (~30#) or aft the firewall but forward of the passenger seat, so basically all the weight went to the passenger footwell. Now it appears you can place it anywhere aft the firewall but within the four points of the passenger seat. The 125# max might be an issue in the case of a no-sunroof car. Hoping that all pans out well for you guys and I'll definately be watching the SE30 2010 ...as always. : )
This is my understanding of the weight rules...SE30 guys, correct if wrong!
9.3.13.2. Ballast is permitted, and shall be securely mounted in the passenger foot well, aft of
the firewall, and shall be forward of the passenger seat. Alternatively, ballast may be
mounted using the passenger seat mounting points, if the passenger seat is removed.
9.3.13.2.1. Ballast shall be in segments no heavier than fifty (50) pounds.
9.3.13.2.2. Ballast may not exceed one hundred twenty five (125) pounds maximum. Spare
Tire weight per 9.3.9.7 is considered separate from this rule and may be added in
addition to the allowed 125 pounds.
9.3.13.2.3. Each segment shall be fastened with a minimum of two (2) one-half (1/2) inch
bolts and positive lock nuts of SAE grade 5 or better unless the ballast is mounted
using the four (4) passenger seat mounting points and replacement bolts, and shall
utilize large diameter, load distributing washers.
9.3.13.2.4. Holes may be drilled in the passenger foot well floor pan for purposes of
mounting the ballast and the floor pan may be reinforced for the same purpose
