Got the car running nice and smooth again. Checked for vacuum leaks, and reinstalled my coil wires.
While I was at it, I pulled my new Aftermarket cone air filter, and reinstalled the old one.
Everything was fun and games till I pulled up back in my driveway, and saw an oil pan bolt laying on the ground.
Looks like I stripped a few bolts, and oil's slowly leaking out from the side again.
Sweet.Leave a comment:

Double check and triple everything, you may have missed something during reassembly.Leave a comment:

Reassembled today. Fresh oil pan, fresh gasket, and oil.
Fired up after two cranks, got a bunch of smoke from some spilled oil.
Then it idled smoothly for a bit.
After putting it in gear, it would stall after letting off the gas.
Now it's like that most of the time. What could I be dealing with?
I was told over the phone that I may have a vacuum leak?Leave a comment:

Thanks for the comparo.
Now, getting it fixed.

Ugh, another few things to add to the list lol.
Does anyone have pictures of some proper m42 cams/lobes to compare with mine?
Just trying to see how much more abrasive mine are than what they should be.Leave a comment:

Unfortunately those sprockets look toast. For refference here's how they look when worn but still OK condition. This engine had about 140k miles at the time.
Good luck with the repair.
Replacement isn't too difficult :)Leave a comment:
