I am incredibly impressed with your fab skills, really wish I had time, money and a welder.Leave a comment:

Actually, it took all of about 10 minutes. lol Angle grinder and a flap disk make quick work of it. It took a lot longer to fit the plate to the rest of the oil pan and get it held in place perfectly.Leave a comment:

Awesome fab work man. Im jealous of your patience to sit there and grind all the welds down super smooth as if it were all one connecting piece. I know for a fact that its pretty tedious work.Leave a comment:

Got most of the bottom welded on. Have to wait to do the last piece or else I won't have access to weld the pick-up tube.
Mock-up of the pickup tube.
This isn't the tube I will be using, I only used it to see how things would fit. I plan on using a piece of silicone tubing to join the tube that will be welded to the oil pan to the pickup itself. Need to buy some steel tube before I can go any farther.Last edited by AndrewBird; 05-08-2016, 08:22 PM.Leave a comment:

Did a few test welds to get a feel for the sheet metal. Here are the results:
All nicely ground smooth.
Plenty of penetration on the back.
The entire bottom of the pan will be welded this way. Keep in mind I am doing this with 18ga steel and a MIG, not TIG.Last edited by AndrewBird; 05-08-2016, 08:21 PM.Leave a comment:

Yes, turned by hand on a lathe. Then I tapped it by hand as well.Leave a comment:
