    swap on the e30?

Not sure if it belongs here but need some help. Ive only had e36 and this is my first e30 so im a bit dazed on what to do with it. Sorry no pictures yet! will snap some soon.

I recently bought a 87 325is alpine no rust with black interior and plastic bumpers and then quickly sold it to my friend due to the fact that i already have a 95 325is thats getting boosted and coilovers and all the good stuff.

Getting back to the e30, he ended up getting new brakes, fixing the electrical, m42 radiator, and rims and tires. however the drive belt snapped and he overheated the shit out of the m20. So it need a new motor. So he bought an e36 m3, asshole had to get a hellrot just like mine, and he pretty much giving me back the e30 with whatever he did to it minus a bad motor.

My question is do i stick in another m20 or obd1 my spare m52?

Now the challenge is that i only have around 500 to spend on the e30 considering most of my money is sitting in the e36.

For the m20 id need a clutch since ill be right their but i really hate the e30 gearbox. Feels so sloppy and like shit. Im looking at a rebuilt m20 locally for around 400. Simple and cheap as can get.

Now for the m52, its in mint condition and i was saving it to blow my m50 in the e36 and build the m52 on the side, but e30 m52 amazingness is calling. I still have to convert the m52 to obd1 but i have a harness, ecu, and all the cooling crap but i have to buy a crank sensor and the coolant temp stuff.
On top of that i need to buy all the swap parts. so im looking what around 500 for the swap parts? Id still have to buy a zf trans but that can wait till after the swap is complete.

CLIFF: swap a rebuilt m20 and buy clutch and call it a day or obd1 my spare m52 then go through the hassle of collect all the swap parts and then getting it all to work properly? I want to spend around 500 max maybe more depending on if i can sell some rims i have laying around.

GOAL: I want to make this a reliable high mpg daily. Eventually itll get boosted after i finish my e36 build. Either that or trade it for a bike.

thanks for the Input in advanced! Oh and I searched my ass off. Just cant make my decision.

Side note what drive shaft would you use for a e36 m3 zf swap without having to modify it?
