The only other person in the U.S. that is doing this is (that I'm aware of) Bobby Thrash the owner of Strictly German. I think he beat you by about a year or so, but from what I've heard, the body work really isn't that straight. I've heard the rear doors on his aren't so clean..
And I'm talking a lot of shit right now cause I haven't seen it myself.
Anywho, I'm glad to see you doing this. It looks like you have the talent at work to make those rear doors straight. Good luck and I can't wait to see this finished!

it's all good, the more people build it the better it will be, more e30s saved from the crasher.
One the other note, when people see the car built by AC Schnitzer, Alpina or Hartge do they also ask for the pic of the owner holding the tools?
more pics to come today!

I have seen Bobby's car first hand (the one dillsnick spoke of) The car looks very good in person, not a 10 but certainly not a 7. It is also 5 lug, big brakes, S50, etc. and it's about the same color blue as well! I thought i had a pic on my phone but i guess not. Regardless, your car looks great vlad, cant wait to see it finished. Keep up the good work.

AC Schnitzer, Alpina and Hartge are all companies, not people. I think what theyre getting at is that you say "I built" which lends to the notion that you physically turned the wrenches and built it yourself.
If your shop built it but you say "I" built it, its a bit misleading. In my opinion, comissioning someone to build a car is different from actually building it yourself. As a manager myself, I know its impossible to supervise AND do the work myself... thats why you have employees. On the flip side, I know when things are going great, I have to give credit where its due because I couldnt do everything on my own. I think its especially important when it comes to your builds because of how talented your workers are.
At any rate, regardless of how anyone feels about vlad as a person, his shop produces some awesome cars and we all should be appreciative of that if nothing else. :up:Originally posted by ebelementsAlso, for those who don't know, negative camber is the greatest thing since sliced bread(panera). Even tire wear is for city busses and the elderly.

This comes down to IP;
when someone agrees to work for an overlying entity, the organization takes responsibility. IF I create an original product or design while paid on company time @ work on my work computer; the IP belongs to my company. Why? because I have signed the employee agreement that specifies product while being paid = belong to company.
This is why a company can legally fire employees for surfing porn or faceslutting while at work or starting another company while being paid at another. American IP protection allows us as Americans to enjoy things.
In the software business people quit often because of this; They want to retain IP similar but not directive of their work, staying at the original company is conflict of IP interest.........
a manager/owner of a project should assume project liability; the manager takes charge for success/failure.
Global style of prospective is different; I would never assume my contact at HKS or Zerosports is directly turning the wrenches or doing the tuning on my weapon, I'd expect hardware by a experienced mechanic in the back of the shop and software programing by an Electrical engineer. Manager's job is to amuse ME the customer!
What is the managers job in all of this??
#1. make customer happy.
#2. make sure product is to par.
#3. drink tea with client. lolLast edited by Wanganstyle; 08-01-2011, 08:45 AM.OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

I understand Josh's concern, but I don't really think it's that big of a deal. I'm sure Vlad has some form of real world experience working on the cars he builds/has built. Most good shop managers, were formerly employees at other shops, establishing themselves and getting a good foundation. A good shop manager knows everything about the business, including how to perform the same work as his employees.
I used to run a busy automotive repair shop, and there was no time for me to actually wrench on the cars. When you have a constant flow of business, and no other office support, then the task can be very overwhelming and stressful. Vlad, I tip my hat off to you for staying with your passion and building a bunch of cool projects.
However, as cool as the euro s50 is, this car should receive an s62!

Decided to retain the rear door handle, although it requieres a lot more body work !
cutting the handle out
notice how much wider the e30 quarters are and how much gap there is
