    Work in progress...

    Under construction.

I made a short videoclip of E30 wind screen /rear window install. Many people seem to wonder about what to do with the plastic strip that goes in the seal. I strongly recommend using some sort of lubricant also, makes it a whole lot easier. Same tool is used for removing the plastic strip.

The car is far from perfect, thanks to me doing most of the prep work myself. Oh what the hell, I'll be behind the wheel and not outside looking at it. :)

I got the car back from paint shop. It's not yet put together, and dirty since they brought it back on an open trailer. I'll put up more & hopefully better pics later..

Paint shop guys finally picked up the car.

I ought to take these apart and put together a set of bumpers.

    Thanks!

The flag's not mine. We have a shared garage, 8 guys of us in all sharing the rent. Also that guy in the pic painting is not me, but a buddy of mine who knows a thing or two about painting. So best listen to him and do what he says. I myself am just a car mechanic, no degree in body repairs.

Bit of progress on the black one. I was kinda prepared to find rust and/or bad repairs from the rocker panels. Very little rust, easy to get 100% clean.

    Car Systems 2 Component filler:

On top of that some 2 part sprayable sealer

Filler on the rest of the car:

Little something on the "superlite" E30

More low quality pics (sorry). Checking prop shaft line, while making diff mounts for an E36 diff cover.

Then came the shitty part.. Some previous owner had replaced the rear wheelarches, and done a baaad job. Large portions of them had not been welded, only hidden under a thick layer :-x of body filler. And now rusty as hell. Well I removed the rust a well as I could and bonded them on properly.

    So, mix the glue....:

..and apply it between the prepped surfaces:

    Same thing to RH side:

Now that I had the rear window off, I had a 35% tint put on it. Here's another short clip : http://petrolhead.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Sun...3%A4liaika.AVI

The doors also had some shitty repairs, now rusty (surprise!!). I ripped the welds off and sandblasted:

The other car, "superlite" project is just sitting there and waiting......

found the reason why the black one had been leaking water in to the trunk. Rear valance had a "rip" in it, and one of it's spot welds had broken off. A bit of sandblasting and body adhesive took care of it.

A short clip taken while sandblasting: http://petrolhead.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Sun...-/MVI_2956.AVI

Also I made a tool for installing the plastic strip that goes in wind screen seal, for easier removal/install of the windows.

I've no idea what these are called in English, anyway "DIY dark headlights", work in progress:

Something for the "superlite" project, an adapter plate that goes between M20B25 throttle body and M10b18 manifold:
    CLICK!
    CLICK!

And conserning the black car, needs sandblasting:

I uploaded a few new pictures. Neither car is really going nowhere, (making any progress). Removing rust, putting on body filler and sanding it is driving me crazy.

I'll look into it. And I'll probably forget. Remind me :)

    Cheers, Jarno

EDIT. Concerning the "superlite E30": I took measurements and did a few calculations on the M10 L-jet inlet manifold. It should be good for at least 160hp NA. This is supported by the horsepower that people have gotten from turboed M10, using the stock inlet manifold. Throttle that I've got now is more than big enough, so no point in investing on ITBs, for now.

EDIT2: I don't know what these are called, I bought them for the black car, and I had those nuts & other bits machined for them.

The point of these is to lower the front end just bit without the shock bottoming any more easily, and ofcourse camber adjustability.
