Out goes the tired M20/auto drivetrain - nice to have a lift!
Meanwhile the guys went about a mild reconditioning of the S52 - new plugs, cooling system, clutch/flywheel/pp...
Parts to be installed!

Cleaning out the engine bay and getting ready to remove the stock e30 steering rack and linkage!
Clean ZF tranny!

Been a while update!!
My friends dude8383 and MrSlaker opened up an impromptu shop in LI and asked me if I wanted to be their 2nd project swap car. So back in June we agreed and I began the search for a new drivetrain considering mine has 202k, is an auto and very tired.
I went back and forth between an S52, S54, and S50B32 and due to budget and time I decided upon the following.
Found a '99 M3 in PA with 85,930 miles on a clean, quiet running S52 drivetrain. The car appeared to be owned by a BMWCCA member and enthusiast, and getting to start the motor up and hear it before pulling was priceless.





And a beautiful shot of the uber rare Modena interior the car had.
So I struck a deal with the owner and had him pull the motor for pick-up, which happened 2.5 weeks later.
