Custom built trailer sounds cool. I saw somewhere was, I think, a vw guy and a small landscaping style trailer and I am pretty sure it was on air. It was pretty cool whatever way it was done.

Join up man! r3v it is the best, link me with your e30 rack once you're done with it. I was mulling over a metal rack when I was searching for a vintage bug for my Sister to buy.

Looks great man, you got skills, wondering if you could pull off a wooden wind deflector or if it would ruin the look? Anyway definitely unique!

Issue with a wooden deflector is since it is wood it will crack over time. Already was thinking of doing one, but I am going with an aluminum one that I am cutting out.

Sorry for late bump, but can you still use a snowboard/ski attachment to this rack? And was is that Part Number for the wind deflector? Thanks.

It would depend on how the ski rack would attach, I was going to add a metal bar to the front and rear and pre drill it for mounting my moped to the roof. I know there is some different styles of mounting. If you have a welder, you can make your own fitted brackets with a screw/plate clamp setup. Do an inverted U with tabs on the outside and have it bolt up a bottom plate. Would be crazy easy to make! Sadly, I do not ski or board, so it is of no use to me.

The fairing is from factory Saab Thule rack. Measure out your window and search CL and ebay, brand new they are pricy for a piece of plastic. I attached mine to the front rack brace via stock brackets. They were just bent to fit, then bolted up with the board slats.
