its your car do what you please with it, just be sure to post lots of pictures.

i personally would go boosted m20, but in the end its your car, so have fun with it.

OP thinks m20 parts cost alot

To build your current m20 will cost less than just installing a KA in a e30. Have fun getting around the steering linkage and getting a custom drive shaft.

Like Derek stated. I would make more sence to boost the m20. Arp studs and a MLHG with just a reseal and maybe a re-ground cam will be alot cheaper than you think.

Find a 325e block ( 2.7L with dished pistons) Match up with your 325i head and now you have a low comp boost ready engine.

from e30tech. don't mind the kick on the graph, say 400whp.

All you really need is a good tuner, a good turbo kit, block O-rings, and some good head hardware to bolt everything down.

I have experience with KA-Ts; while they make power and are fun to drive, its still a truck motor. To each his own.

Camip does makes a good point. I am well versed in boosting m20s, so I am biased.

i have seen graphs and power like this, i only have them problem of lifespan. i want this to last a good 3 seasons of track use as my s13 has.

    you posted without reading anything

I already have the same setup in an s13 and it has been sliding for 3 years

already have a spair stock longblock and trans i picked up earlier this year for $100

last time i built a KA bottom end it was $1000 out of pocket. that included pistons, rings, rods, bearings, machine work and balancing

money is not the issue. just no need to throw any away to maintain manufacturer.

looking for the most bang for the buck.

even a used s50 with over 100k miles is 2k without trans or any install parts. and that 240hp

The parts for more common engines are incredibly cheaper.

i do not want a stock motor with a turbo on it. its not reliable to be at redline just about all the time

just about every part is twice as expensive vs the nissan engine

    forged m20 pistons and rods = 1800
forged ka24de pistons and rods = 800shipped through ken at enjuku

    head studs 120 vs. 230

mls head gasket 99 vs. 220

    the list goes on.

I'd have to agree... but I see OP's logic given he owns a built S13 already...

IMHO I would rather have a silky smooth boosted six over a boosted 4 banger. Not to mention the engine sounds are godly!

in all seriousness, all that work you might as well just do an sr, or boost the m20, or do a 24v swap.
the SR does not make nearly the power the KA will. for the same price

and the 2.5i6 makes the same power stock as the 2.4i4 does stock

the only other option for powerplant was the f20c but the stock used swap cost is to high
