You can go with there coilover "kit" which is around 400. You don't get adjustable shocks or camber/caster plates though

Yes the black bbs wheels on the grey car. The tires are 100% done though. PM me if interested in them.

EDIT: They are in very poor condition however. Looks like someone tried to clean them with a wire brush in some spots. I was going to try and clean them up and make them look decent if I ever had the time.

Got the parts car! 88 325i.

All I'm taking from it really is everything I need for the i head swap and a few other little pieces. Everything else will be for sale.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of taking the pads out, but i need to bring the front down as well. Probably just end up getting ground controls. Just not sure which spring rate.

take the rear spring pads out, and it will lower it nice and even.

This was my first E30 w/ Vogtland springs.....had a front rake....so i took the lower rear spring pad out....no noises, and evened out perfectly

Looks like you are off to a good start. I am just venturing into a 2.7 eta build but my plans are more Euro period correct vs. overall power.

I can't comment on getting the rear lower...my other E30s were later cars with the lower rear arches. Coilovers are really the only way to get early car rears down visually and still have some level of ride (but not as nice as your H&Rs). I think H&R race are a bit lower as well.

  • Don't know what build I am doing yet...Maybe a 2.7 turbo drift car?

Hey guys and gals. Just bought an e30 after wanting one for a while. I had an e36 m3 a while ago then got into an e46, but both of those left me wanting more. So after those 2 I ended up in a Subaru wrx (bugeye to be exact), sold the first bugeye and bought an FD rx7 because the mostly stock bugeye left me wanting even more. After 2 months with 450whp daily driven, that was enough for me so back into a subaru I go (also another bugeye). I built the 2.0 in it, go maybe 275awhp out of it but it was just not enough for me, so I returned it to stock and bought another bugeye (yes my 3rd) to build a 2.5l. Well that project is nearing its end with hopes of 370awhp. This is currents time now.

After selling the FD and 2nd bugeye I had enough cash left over to finish my 2.5 build and move to an e30. I just miss the RWD and handling and build quality of a german vehicle the subaru just couldnt deliver.

Saturday I bought a 86 325e for $1750. Its a little rough around the edges but a great start for my future build plans.

I am also going to buy a parts car tomorrow morning. Its an 88 325i.

(7/09/14) The new plan for the car is to build a turbo 2.7l drift car. This weekend I acquired my dad's 73 911, and to spend the money restoring that but also want to keep the e30 as a fun car to go shred some tires

(6/30/2014) I have decided not to pursue the 3.0 stroker, will not net power and drive ability I want from the car. So as of this weekend I have decided to do an m60b40 swap...stay tuned

(6/25/2014)I don't know what I am going to do with the engine yet. I have yet to commit to any type of build besides the fact I already bought my 3.0l crank. I may boost it, I may do an NA build. Hell I might even compound charge it just to say I did. So stay tuned, it may get interesting, or it may be a boring as hell build. All I know is when the car is done, it will be in your face awesome!

ORIGINAL PLANS...they have changed. SEE BLUE FOR CURRENT PLANS
    Basic plans:
    "i" head swap
    Megaquirt ECU
    stock bottom end
Bimmerheads dual pattern cam with all the goodies
Havent decided on a turbo yet.
Goal is for a drive able 300-350whp. I'm more into handling and driveability then power, but a little power never hurt anyone

    (6/18/2014)
    3.0L Stroker m20
    11:1 Compression Ratio
    304 Schrick cam
    Custom ITB setup
    Megasquirt standalone
    e85
    Shooting for 200whp
My reasoning: I want a car I can drive at 10/10th all the time, and with a turbo I just can't do that.

So basically its going to be like every other turbo'ed e30, but I just wanted to make a thread to keep track of my progress and introduce myself to everyone :hi:

    The day I bought it:

Already bought some wheels for it: Rial wheels 15x7et12 from Perry

Test fit: Needs to be lowered more, the H&R/Bilstein handles great though, any suggestions on how to get it a little lower? Also I have the get spacers all the way around to clear calipers because these wheels have no back pad.

More detailed pictures to come when the progress gets underway. Thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions, please post away! As long as they are helpful of course I should also mention this will not be a quick build my any means. Being a college student on limited funds I will have to shop around for deals and use my time wisely
