Vintage race car revival (2002 content)

So back In may I found out steve aka blunttech Had a vintage race car. We quickly came to an agreement on price and she was mine.

On june 7th I was finally able to go get her.

Then I took it the shop and thats where it sat until this last weekend

I found out it had an alpina big break kit on it so IE sent me a present to swap the brakes with

Went and removed the alpina brakes and sold them for a good amount of cash

Then I Found a m10 and set of stahl headers for 250 bucks :)

Now Im left with how the car looks right now which is on stands with now brakes or hubs becuase the bearing kits i got were mis labeled. I'll soon be putting her back together.

I hope to get more work done in the coming weekends. Funds and time are limited right now though.

Yep. I was gonna change it but I gotta keep it vintage. I'm gonna fix the blemishes and that's it. If I every decide to change it. I'll just have it wrapped or something so I don't permantly get rid of the vintage paint job

                Lmao Simon I won't forget.

Finally got around to picking up my motor and headers. All I have to say is WIN. Motor sat since early 2000's but when I pulled the head.....

It's and e12 cast head that appears to have been rebuilt only a few thousand miles ago. The valaves look great except the exhaust side cause it was open to the elements in the guys garage some surface rust but when I got a scotch brite pad on them it scrubbed off

The bottom end how ever is a different story it didn't have an oil pan so the cyl walls have surface rust. Hopefully I can get it to knock loose pretty easily and re use the Pistons for a little while. I hoping a hone, new rings and bearings will bring the bottom end back to life. Cause right now it's dead can't even see hatching in the cyl walls on the top side.

I also found out the stahl headers are 1 5/8 primaries so those are good for now...

So I put my self into more debt :( I think? Box of goodies showed up at my place

I also got a set of rods all weight balanced to within .1 of each other only paid 10 bucks a rod :) next will be 10:5:1 cast Pistons and weber 40's but won't likely happen until Christmas.

I approve of vintage race car builds! :D

Good thing you took a look at those bearing shells, they look a bit dark. You using stock brakes? I thought you said BBK so I wonder if your vintage rules are different. Originally available setup?

Gotcha! What will you use in the rear? I noticed a lot of the 2002s I've raced have the rare factory rear disc conversion...
