I've always wanted to try it this way, and I have heard of it being done this way.
I don't think the time savings will be that huge though. You'd still need to drop the exhaust, disconnect the driveshaft, remove the DME connector from inside the car, disconnect the fuse box power and starter cable from the battery block, remove the fuel lines, remove the heater hoses from the firewall, remove the top and bottom radiator hoses at the very least, if not remove the radiator, and the charcoal canister. You'd also need to disconnect the rack from the steering column. Then the subframe should drop after you remove the strut nuts and the four bolts holding the subframe to the chassis.

Kind of OT..
Ive never taken the motor out of an e30 but wouldnt it be easier to take the motor out of the bottom by dropping the sub frame? Ive done that on a few cars and motor removal time was under an hour from hood open to motor sitting on a crate.
anyways great start!!Leave a comment:

Wait, so the engine bay is bronzit, and the outside of the car is green? Will this be your car's third paint job? Poor car must be having an identity crisis. It's going to look awesome though!!Leave a comment:

Man, it looks like the Exxon Valdez let go in your engine bay! Well, once you remove it, it's pretty much drag and drop in the M50. :)Leave a comment:
