Fancy early 4dr revealed a terminal amount of rust fortunately, so I am no longer indebted to saving its life.

In other hooptie news, the mini rear door card sub came in and thus I can finally finish the audio setup! e30dreamin on Instagram is who makes the mini sub boxes. They're fairly priced and are well thought out and well built. He normally only sells them in pairs though, so don't ask him for just one.

My buddy is going to make me a hitch that sandwiches between the rear bumper shock mounts so I can run a hitch mounted bike rack, and thus remove my roof bars to get the wind noise back down.

That gray/blue shelf is only 18" deep and was a lifesaver. Fit perfectly in the pocket left of the bay door and was within an inch length-wise up against the 4x8 pallet racking on the back wall!

And was free haha, always a nice bonus

As one does, I got hyper fixated on hearing the '87 325i sedan run this week when I realized I could potentially winter drive it. The PO said it ran great and had "long legs" and ran recently, but he also told me that convertible I bought from him was good to go and needed a ton of work so I took it with a grain of salt.

I sold the 13 button OBC stuff off of the car, not realizing pin 27 on the DME connector gets power from the c104 on early cars, which normally runs through the early 13 button OBC harness. I spent a week here and there doing electrical troubleshooting, only to eventually find the chassis harness male side of the c104 shoved up by the cruise control that plugs into the c104 on non 13 button cars.

Drained fuel, tank looked great, no sediment came out.

Swapped injectors and a late fuel rail on from that black '91 I parted a couple pages back. Put some fresh engine bay fuel lines on it and I'll be damned if it fired right up and dropped down to idle perfectly. I think it had a sticking valve as it was a little loud at first, but quieted right up. Someone put what looks to be an e24 muffler on it at some point and it sounds great.

Ran it through the gears on the lift and the clutch/trans feel great.

No brakes but I couldn't find an leaks under the car so I'll start with a fluid flush/bleed and see where that gets me.

I'm not buying anything but tires for this thing, in an attempt to use stuff I have here.

I remembered I had some rusty iX H&R lowering springs I got from Berger a few years ago, and the car already has B8s on it, and I don't want to lower the car any, so I had the genius idea of putting the iX H&Rs on the car to add some spring rate. I have iX spring pads as well for the trailing arms. No idea what it'll look like, but we'll find out soon enough.

Some closeout rockauto control arms and centered e36 CABs are also in order. Tie rods feel fine.

Will toss a timing belt/WP on it and see where that gets me.

My buddy bought a dope patina early sedan that just so happened to be delphin, which is what ALL of my cool spare body kit parts were. He ended up snagging the early pfeba front, MT1 skirts and MT1 rear that had been modified already to fit US bumpers.

He's raising the car a touch and putting a fatter tire on it, but hot damn I thought it looked good enough to post in here.

Stepping on the brakes resulted in a puddle- all of the hard lines above the rear subframe are rotten. Brake line stuff should be here this weekend, so the christening is not far off!!

                            ----

I've been scouring marketplace for a 1UP rack for hoopties hitch project and a pre rear ended black super duty two bike 1UP popped up for a solid $750 discount over new, so naturally, I obliged. Insurance covered a new rack for them, so they let this go cheap. The damage wasn't nearly as bad as what I expected. If ya know, ya know. 1UP stuff retains value well and they typically sell as soon as they're posted, so this was a great score.

can you cut the back off and make it a pickup while you're there?

Someone on r3v fb told me that the easiest way to get to the brake lines is via the top of the car, so i'm hoping there's enough metal left over for the truck bed
