Laugh all you want. When your pants are at your ankles, you're in a very vulnerable position. You never know if someone is going to quietly cut a hole in the drywall and come from behind with a garrote wire.

If it's legal and makes you feel better then knock your bad self out man. Funny story that is somewhat related to zoos and guns. A friend of mine worked at the Cincinnati zoo for a while and was part of the security team that was trained to handle large escaped animals. He was telling me that even a .50 caliber rifle won't always take down a polar bear due to the shape and thickness of its skull. Apparently there was an escape at another zoo where a .50 slug ricocheted off the damn thing's head.

use it or lose it, just like your weiner.

Fuck CC, just shoulder a rifle, then all the unruly minorities will think twice about trying to steal your fanny pack.

Paranoid much? :p There's not a single facet of life on earth that is without risk. You cannot control but a tiny fraction of it, and even that control is largely illusory.

Thanks for admitting that it is unlikely. I think that's even an understatement! Carrying a weapon may seem proactive, but it is likely only to be used in a reactionary posture. And your odds of being in such a situation in most parts of the US (not to mention a zoo) are remote to say the least. Then again, my suspicion is that many people who carry weapons live with a desire to be there when something happens because they believe they could make a difference in the outcome. For all the factors necessary to come together to make that a reality is even more remote.

Yeah, but I have a much better chance of being in a car accident than being the victim of a random shooting. 1 in 4 will be in a car crash in their lifetime. 1 out of 4 who go the zoo are not being robbed or shot there! But then, the same goes for just about every place you are likely to visit in the US. Lousy analogy.....

I'm curious, do you feel that threatened on a daily basis that you need to carry a gun with you at all times?

I don't understand it at all.

yes as a matter of fact it is. Unfortunately the govt has mandated that you cant have a means of protection on your person if you are in a Govt owned area. SO thats why he cant take it in, has noting to do with ruralness or just old feckers, it has every thing to do with taking responsibility for your own safety just like wearing you seat belt

Charlie: Unless I am miss understanding OH law, you would have to be in one of the buildings that serves the beer to be in violation. But since its a govt owned/operated facility its a moot point.

OP leave it a home or locked up in the car outta sight, I think we have established that

They serve beer. Therefore, they frown on hilljacks bringing their pistols in to shoot at the buffalo and other shitty animals they have on display.

    Don't piss Jack Hanna off.

As for "how would they know"? It's a zoo and a fucking waterpark. You gonna carry your ankle holster with a speedo?

If it's posted no guns, than thats fine I won't take it in...but how would they know? Are they searching everyone going through the gate? That wouldn't be a violation of the 4th amendment or anything....
