Friend has a Chevy 1500, '95, bought it for $1,800, and with a little catch-up maintenece, it's a champ. Hauls car and other crap to/from Dallas, Houston, and College Station on a disturbingly regular basis.

Screw up? Please elaborate. There are 3 of them at my work and all are great trucks, 2 of which have over 300k on them and running strong.

buy an S10 its the E30 of trucks!

I had a few of em and loved em.-- if you want to "hook" it up a little bit later, parts are dirt cheap and very plentiful for the Chevy. dodge is alot harder to find stuff for.

the Nissan Hardbodies look really cool-- box style wit M3 fenders!-- but small.

    We don't read here.

How about something like a 1998-99 F150. V8 and 4x4 and its in your pricerange. If something does happen to it theres a million other ones you can steal parts from.
