you need to take those two courses if you're majoring in any type of engineering. then you will take more advanced versions of those courses if you're majoring in mechanical. -

but if you're having that much trouble with statics definitely stay away from mechanical engineering. statics would be one of the easiest courses in an ME curriculum..Leave a comment:

i am done with mechanical Engineering. one of the worst Programmes ever, and the teachers there are all pricks and don't even know how to speak proper english. i hope the whole fuckin building go on fire.
My idiot insructor gave me 47% for my Autocad/Drafting(mec 143) and they refused to pass me the course. as that being said that means i have to go to school for 3 years. i don't wanna do that. if i am going for 3 years might as well go with somthing i really enjoy/want to do.

Not to sound like a downer. However, if the NAIT curriculum is the same as SAIT's, if your challenged now with statics, Machine Design and Strength of Materials will be very challenging for you. I Just finished up with my MET diploma this year and while I found statics and dynamics a breeze, the 2nd year courses are much more intensive and have a far steeper learning curve.
I was in the same boat as you half way through my 3rd semester from the sounds of things. I was really unsure if MET was what I wanted to do. I ended up dropping out at the beggining of the 4th semester due to health issues and complete uncertainty of engineering as a career path. Anyways, long story short...
I ended up going back after putting alot of thought into it, and while I'm really glad that I did and would love to find a career in the engineering field, there was nothing available when I completed the program. I came out with a 3.44 cumulative GPA, applied for 100's of jobs in Ab, BC, SK, ON and only had 3 interviews. At this point, while Im working as a "Technician", Its in a completely different feild and is in no way engineering related.
At this point, I dont even know if I will be able to find work as an MET since there are going to be 1000's of fresh graduates come spring and theres still no jobs available... In regards to the Technical Writer comment you posted, believe it or not but an MET diploma could lead to that, I have seen a few entry level posting that I have been more than qualified for. But my 70 page final report was enough technical writing for me
Sorry if this is long winded and all over the place, I am pretty tired but cant sleep because I cant stop thinking about whether or not I will eventually find a job as an MET... If you have any questions, just askLeave a comment:

I think he's talking about Statics, not statistics:
Statics is the branch of mechanics concerned with the analysis of loads (force, torque/moment) on physical systems in static equilibrium, that is, in a state where the relative positions of subsystems do not vary over time, or where components and structures are at a constant velocity. Yeah aerospace is one industry we service, I am mostly oil and gas, I spend most of my time on pipelines keeping the welders honest.
There are also many other methods of NDT xray is just the one I use the most.
