That's why I don't really buy into the whole "a sport the US doesn't give a shit about" argument.

Frankly I agree with you here. It's a stupid argument. And I think Canada should have more teams instead of keeping teams in the US in markets that people really don't care about hockey (i.e. Phoenix, Nashville, Why does Florida have 2 teams??).

I give a shit about hockey, personally I think it's the most exciting professional sport. Football is lame and predictable, Basketball is pointless and repetitive, Baseball is boring as shit, yet they're all sports the US 'gives a shit about'.

No, you're right, not up there with the likes of Gretzky, Howe, Orr, Lemieux or Messier. However they do have 24 teams in the league which accounts for 80% of the NHL. That's why I don't really buy into the whole "a sport the US doesn't give a shit about" argument.

The point is that Canada was always supposed to win the Gold. It's your sport in the olympics in your country. If you look at the Canadian roster, and if you follow hockey (I'm probably like the only one who does) the Canadian team is probably made up of the very best players in the game today. Every player on the Canadian roster is a superstar. Furthermore, Canada is backed up by Brodeur, who holds basically every goal-tending record in the NHL. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that this is the best Canadian team ever to play in the olympics.

The US team. on the other hand, is a bunch of kids. the average age is 26.5. They were not favored coming into the tournament, everyone thought the gold medal game was going to be Russia and Canada. With Sweden or Finland winning the Bronze. The fact that they have gotten this far means they've put forth a pretty supreme effort. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just laying down the facts.

I'm all for trash talking though, so carry on. Frankly I hope Canada loses tonight because I don't think the US will be able to beat them for Gold. We just don't have the talent. Needless to say the game on Sunday should be interesting.
