dollar for dollar a PC will always beat a Mac. It comes down to budget and personal preference in the end.

Yes. At a fraction of the cost. I can run OSX on my PC, and Macs can run Windows. Your argument is invalid.

You simply WILL NOT convince me that they are superior in ANY way. I did tech support for them for almost a year. I know every stupid little glitch, issue, problem, hiccup, flaw, mistake, oversight and fuck-up Apple computers can (and most do) have. They have all the same issues as PC's.
Your opinion has worth to me then.

To help, I'm an opera singer, web designer, audio and video engineer. I've got both macs and pcs. My laptop is a Macbook Pro and works fine for Web design stuff but doesn't have the necessary power to do any real audio or video work. I've got a 27" iMac at my full time job as a web designer and developer. BUT I custom built my pc specifically for Audio and Video work, basically think of the specs as a pc version of a top of the line Mac Pro without the 15k price tag. I'd use my pc for the audio/video work any day of the week over the overpriced Mac Pro. My pc cost 3k vs 15k, I'll take that any day!!! (btw I run ProTools 7 with a Digi002 rack for audio and Adobe Premier Pro 2 for Video - along with the full adobe suite for everything else)

My macbook freezes all the time and it's only a year old. it's driving me crazy apparently having Photoshop, Chrome, Firefox and Coda running at the same time chokes it up. Oh, and don't forget my overheating bs.[/QUOTE]

well maybe I'll get a PC then.

Just saw this, and yes, yes they can. Actually the majority of the time they can actually do FAR more than a Mac ever can! Here are the 3 main reasons people buy a Mac in my experience:

    1. The Hype - most people don't admit it, but it's true (Apple has the best marketing department, bar none!)
    2. Can't get Viruses - completely false, but people still believe, fact is they are incredibly vulnerable but since Apple's world market share is still relatively insignificant in the Home Computer world nobody wastes time creating viruses for them.
    3. OS X - the heart and soul of Apple, they've never been a technology hardware company, as a matter of fact just about everything Apple makes is still years behind, they've barely started to catch up. Everything is about the wonderfully built OS, Snowleopard is a beautiful, easy to use, very well integrated OS, better than anything else I use. Now if I could just get them to give me the hardware to actually make it work correctly.....oh wait they do, too bad it starts at 5000 dollars....

Let's have a poll. I want every serious musician, and photographer
to speak up, what do you use? Because if your computer is used to wack-off to porn and go on r3v then your opinion is worthless to me.

Maybe thier just buying into the hype that macs are better for editing.
