Not really dude. I do maximum 2 hours worth of real work everyday and browse the internet the rest of the time. Its pretty awesome, although after a few years you realize all the useful technical knowledge your brain once held vanishes into thin air but your Pictures folder is chopped full of lul'z and your internet lingo is totally up to par...

Agreed. I worked for the Army one summer and literally didn't have anything to do for the first 3 weeks and no computer to use. I sat at a desk for 8 hours a day and literally did NOTHING. I thought I was going to lose my mind.

    Bros Indeed.

I just graduated in 4 years with my Comp Engineering Degree and recently got a job as an Electronics Engineer. Was it hard? At times yes. Was my life completely taken up with studying and doing hw/projects? No, definitely not. Like everyone has been saying, you need to learn to balance your work load and your free time.

That being said out of the few hundred that started with me freshman year with CE in mind, only 3 others graduated with me. So you might have to tell your WOW guild that you can only slay dragons and garden gnomes once a week.

Most engineering degrees take commitment to get through. I didn't put any effort into classwork in HS, but when it came to college the classes I took interested me and I pushed through the challenging ones. Find something you like to do, not something that you think you can make a buck doing. On a late night before a big deadline your going to to be wiped out and seriously questioning whether its worth it and you better have a better reason to be there than "I don't like living with my parents".

Just make sure you're in the right major. If I could go back to my freshman year, I'd go into industrial design, architecture, or graphic design. Sure the money is great and is helping fund pretty much whatever the fuck I want to do, this whole office day job thing sometimes is taxing. Plus I don't enjoy the industrial environment as much esp with the people it brings (I'm around plenty of non-degreed folks and blue collared folks so ignorace gets annoying.)

+1 You have the game down sir.

Like the below guy said, calc I, II, all the way up to diff eq is a joke. Too easy. I honestly had fun in those classes. If you found diff eq difficult, you are retarded. And those 5, 6 or so math classes are a small fraction of actual engineering application classes.

Sure have a good time, meet people, get laid often but I know a number of peeps that fk'd themselves or at least set themselves back by partying too hard. Bad enough school is full of the "I just want/need to pass" mentality.
I guess I shouldve explain that it was meant to work hard for the class then party when you're done.

I do know what you mean about how it can screw some people up, but that's their fault. I partied hard enough and was satisfied with what I did in college. I miss it, but I did what I did and now am on the next part of my life.

I made it through college in 4 years, joined a frat, partied my ass off, but worked my ass off too. Balance is the fucking key to college, if you do nothing but study, you'll burn out, only party and you'll fail out. I'm 2 years outta college with a computer engineering degree (started as a mech engineering degree, a lot of the same first 2 year courses), left with a 3.0. Its not perfect but it got a me a sweet ass job for a huge engineering company and i got to have a lot of fun for those four years.
+1 I should bold the entire quote bc I'm in the exact same boat.
