I think the image of AT&T has been compromised due to the shitty reception and phone quality of the iPhone. When I had a Nokia or a Blackberry on AT&T I never had a phone call related issue. It wasn't until I picked up my iPhone 3G that I started to experience dropped calls and such.
I've since moved on and away from the Apple camp and picked up the new Galaxy S (Captivate) and haven't regretted that decision. The phone is fantastic, not to mention it shits all over the EVO and Droid X. Okay, maybe not so much, but in the gaming department it is the ruler.
Droid X vs EVO 4G?

The earliest we will move would be Sept 2012, after that point we would no longer have to pay back the $8k tax refund for buying the house!Leave a comment:

Hehehe, although I would like to move out of Tulsa, I'd have to move somewhere with lots of defense/tech/manufacturing so I could continue to be a Tech Writer.
Or find another industry that pays as well as a Tech Writer in Power Distribution, but with a Public Relations degree.
All the major carriers have Tulsa/OKC/Stillwater covered, so that's not really the issue.
Come move near me, there is a National Laboratory. There was a Tech Writer gig open on their site just a few days ago.Leave a comment:

My iPhone 3G has gotten to the point it won't even hold a signal, Edge or 3G, much less actually make calls.I picked up a Droid X today to replace my IPhone 3GS. AT&T can burn in hell for all I care.
Love the phone so far, the efuse thing will be solved so i'm not worried about that.
The Screen is amazing
The Dock is cool (expensive, but a nice touch on my desk)
Fast, although it does lag from time to time (Froyo is supposed to fix it)
Integrated with my Exchange Environment Fine
Call Quality, Speakerphone are top notch
It does not drop a call every 40 fucking seconds like AT&T

Checked out other providers but never been that happy. If the Droid X is bigger than an EVO that thing must be huge, I thought the EVO was already too big. Cell phones are gonna be Ipad sizes soon.Leave a comment:

The pictures I've seen online of that phone's display is crazy! I want one too. I am not going to upgrade until San Diego gets 4G, cause my 1 year old Pre is already not so cool anymore.

IF you are in a 4g market you might want the Evo. Sprint's plans are also really cheap if you do a SERO plan.
If you dont live in a 4g market probably would take a serious look at the droid, although Moto's skin is shit.Leave a comment:

I vote move to Idaho. But that said the Droid X is fucking huge. I have a standard droid and love it. But Yeah get off ATT they suck everywhere but in the urban areasLeave a comment:

So I'm here with the EVO and Hero right next to me, and I also play with a Nexus One. Nexus One has Froyo, EVO Eclair and Hero Rooted Eclair. Personally, Froyo isn't all that big of a deal to me, somethings are a bit nicer but it isn't much faster and it's still bugged even with some google apps (like Listen). Eclair is stable. I LOVE the SenseUI over the standard Android Interface, it makes it feel so much more like a phone, and I only have 15 - 20 apps I use on a regular basis so everything fits perfectly on my screens.
4G is fast, pulling about 6mbps at home in Houston (I think it needs a better antenna, I get 25mbps avg on my Overdrive Hotspot). Bluetooth Sharing is incredibly easy!! It has the best touchscreen I've used yet, the response is fantastic and it feels natural, they fixed the "heavy vibration" from the Hero and made it softer so it doesn't feel like you're shocking your hand every time you type. It is by far the fastest phone I've used, I'm running 9 semi intensive apps (2 games, web, FB, Twitter, Pandora, Gmail etc) right now with absolutely NO lag. NONE!
Sprint Navigation is one of the best GPS Nav systems, bar none (that's comparing to the Garmin and TomTom that I've used). I would suggest getting the Lock2.0 application. It gives you a customizable iPhone style slide lock. It's a huge help to keep you from Butt Dialing. It costs like 3bux.
Regarding the Tethering. Verizon charges 20bux for tethering with the Droid X, Sprint will be dropping their price to match that very soon (if not lower...). My dad doesn't know the exact date yet but said they've known about it for a while. If you don't want to pay then just root the phone.
The EVO is already HUGE, if the Droid X is bigger, I doubt I would like it, you're approaching maxiPad status.
And of course the most important, Sprint has better data plans for cheaper, and the best data network in the nation. Verizon is really good too, just more expensive.
I've attached two photos, the first is from the 8mp main camera, the other is from the 3.2mp front facing camera.

I have a Sprint Sero plan that costs me $30 a month and includes 500 anytime, evenings starting a 7 pm and unlimited, text, pictures, and web (on a Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile Smart Phone.) It is the shit!
I am just waiting for Samsung Galaxy Pro to come to Sprint. Check it out if you want a physical keyboard!Leave a comment:
