rumor has it the droid x has an efuse. similar to what the xbox360 has. basically, its software that triggers a physical fuse to blow, thus disabling tampering if need be. we shall see

I have have both the Droid X and the EVO in my hand right now. A few notes.

While Sprint has cheaper plans, there customer service is horrible and their service (cell) is spotty to say the least. I was a Sprint customer for about a month and canceled today. The Driod, while the OS is not a pretty, is snappy, lighter and has great sound quality and coverage. The battery lasts far longer and just as a unit it feels better. One thing I like about the Droid X is a dedicated shutter button for the camera and geotags.

Nope, I just have an iPhone because the other half bought me one. I really want to try out a google phone vs reupping with ATT for an iPhone 4.
Nope. The Droid X launched today. The Droid is the smaller slider phone by Motorola. It was the first one to launch in the "Droid" series on VZW.

VZW is pretty great, all in all. Other carriers are good too, just flaky in some regards. You'll be pretty satisfied if you go with Sprint or Verizon. I like Sprint. Its fuckin fast around these parts. And we have 4G in our city, well, some parts of it.

Also - Droid X just showed up in my lap. Its pretty sick lookin. Motoblur looks weird. Definitely wait for Froyo to drop, or root it and install a legit test build.

IMO, if you like PAYING FOR music then stick with the iphone. If you like the fastest phone ever get a droid.
    fixed

also, this thread has nothing to do with the iphone, read the title

My co-worker is on his way back with his Droid X. I recently picked up a Droid myself...
I'll let you know. The Driod X is quite a bit bigger. But god damn..... LOOK AT IT. ITS BEAUTIFUL.

The only thing I dont like about the HTC phones is that Sense UI bullshit... Takes twice as long for much needed/official updates to come out too. I dont like waiting.

PS - Thought you were an Apple dick rider? ;)

Looks like EVO is going to win. Checked the web sites, with my company discount with me and ladies phone, Sprint will be nearly $30 a month cheaper.

But buy a Droid X get one free.....

Solely based upon brand preference, I would lean towards HTC.

    Unfortunately no 4G here.

I'm still leaning toward the HTC, but I've read some stuff about the Droid having better battery life and being more well built than the HTC.

I've been with Sprint for almost 10 years.. While I've had some ups and downs with them customer service wise, the network itself has always been strong.
