I've added everyone from the list in post 1 as well.

    F. can of worms. maybe something will open up once we get online races figured out...

Gentleman's agreement? it'll end up being fairly obvious if someone is WAY faster on the straights or something like that...

I just want something a tad bit faster than the VW bus.... LOL!

Looks like theres no way to enforce performance restrictions like on Prologue (there are no performance points in the full game) so the best bet for a fair race is to just have everyone throw whatever mods they want on the car to race it, just as long as its a Z4. It would be cool to have certain allowed mods but you know that someone would sneak a few extra parts in , have an advantage and there would be no way to detect it.

So, no restriction on mods, make the fastest Z4 possible!

I have been looking at how to make the online race lobbies, it looks like you can create an online race lobby in the "Open Lobby" part of the home screen or under Community>My Lounge (the coffe/tea cup icon). I think we will try to initiate the race lobby through my "My Lounge" . Everyone should have recieved an "add friend" invitation from me, if not, send me an invite (littlemooney) . Still figuring it out... more details later

OK - not that difficult to get to level 2 and enough cash to get that car.

Just do the b-license, kart race and roundy-round class and you're there with $ to spare!

Then buy that Z4 and go kill everything in the Sunday cup! lol

I highly recommend keeping this first car with minimal mods - simple and cheap.
    -sport exhaust
    -sport filter
    -fixed sports suspension kit
-maybe performance (but not race) tires

looks like no brake kit???? wtf?

We can do a full on race car later....

Yeah I'd also like to play. I havent picked up the game yet, but will do tomorrow.

We should be able to at least use fully adjustable suspension and maybe some exhaust mods. Racing any car with stock exhaust is just utterly boring as piss.

    First goal: Acquire ^

    :)

I vote for Dec 5th first race. I have only tonight to play the game, then must wait until Monday since I'll be out of state....

One of the things done on Forza3 with the Spec Miata crowd was multiple hosts when the racer count got high enough. And then results were posted. Could be done the same way here.

CAR TO BE USED: Z4 3.0i
I have been playing GT5 today and you have to advance to higher levels to be eligible to purchase higher level cars. So because of that we will be using the Z4 3.0i (Level 2) for the racing series. Im going to look into performance points and online racing some more now :D

Since this comes out on a wednesday and a lot of people work throughout the week, should we start the first race on Sunday the 5th of December? That would give people a chance to practice and get acquainted with the game over the weekend...

excellent idea. sort of mimincs actual tracking that some people do. Buy a car and put it on the track. get some experience and want to go faster, add some tasteful upgrades like coil-over kit, sway bars, wheels/tires and sport brakes, intake/exhaust and maybe a chip. But keep it simple.

Maybe we can start with the 'stock' series. For that I vote for any of the M3s (E90/92 would be my choice if available). And then add the upgrades for the second series.

For spring rates, some research into what TC Klein or others have out there can point us in the right direction. leave damper settings at stock for now unless the cars are a handful.

All 16 spots are now filled! The standard spring rate and damper thing isnt a bad idea, the trick is finding a setup that works well enough on the car to not throw off the balance real bad and have people spinning out a lot.

I was doing some Christmas shopping today at Wal mart and noticed they had a GT5 demo kiosk so I gave it a few laps. It feels much different than Prologue, it even looks different. I almost dont recognize the Nurburgring between GT4 and GT5 but it looks great!

I'm in for this. Have GT5 reserved at Best Buy.

I ran (run) Spec Miata races stuff on Forza 3 (real Spec Miata racers racing SM online). Initially someone got a tune that was damn close to track records at most of the tracks. Everyone racing used the same upgrades, set spring rates and damper settings. Worked well and took a lot of the guess-work out. That same set-up is still being used.

Whatever car (or cars) are chosen, I suggest something similar. Pick the car, set what mods can be done and then let tuning with tire pressure, alignment and ride height happen.

Also, I think we should maybe open up the series to other non bmws. Have a spec BMW M3 (or whatever) series, and then follow it with a Lotus/Caterham 7 one.

The Caterham 7 is an outstanding car
