I went with the Opteka grip after reading good reviews. Installed today, it is excellent quality. Looks almost exactly like the canon body and rubber. I paid $46, couldn't imagine paying three times that for OE. Hope this helps someone make their decision.

The t2i is sick. The only thing I don't like is that it's not weather sealed like a 7d or higher cams. So I refuse to use it in alot of weather, which is limiting. My sister upgraded to a t2i from an Xsi and was blown away.

I have the EN-EL4a and I love it. The battery lasts 1000s of shots and it lighter than the 8 AAs.

Grips on small cameras are a necessity with big glass. My rebel with a 70-200 f/2.8 is unusable for me without a grip (ham fists). Shop used, I bought my Canon grip for half the price of new, and it was barely used.

Richard, how do you like your T2i?
I'm seriously considering one very soon as a replacement/upgrade from my Xti

...and i've been looking at lenses as well, I've got some friends that would like to pay me to shoot their wedding this spring, so i need to upgrade asap

as a side note, my d300s does 7fps which is close enough to 8 anyway, so i just use 2 EN-L3s.

    then don't get a grip...

i find that the camera is even more ergonomic in landscape orientation with the grip installed. this is probably my favorite feature of the grip, not the vertical shutter release.

i have the zeikos grip for my d300s, and have had a good experience with it. works just as advertised, the only difference is it isn't metal like MB-D10 nikon grip, so it is arguably less durable, but you could buy 4 to 5 zeikos grips for the cost of one new nikon grip.

oh, and i shop pretty much exclusively on amazon.

Well, for extended video shooting they're not a waste. Do you shoot video? It's also nice to change batteries without having to take it off the tripod.

they have one. google is your friend.

And yeah, I wouldn't grip a small camera personally.

Neither Nikon nor Canon warranty interaction with 3rd party products. The trick is to stick with the ones that are proven.

Being said I know people who have had luck with the aftermarket grips, aside from fitting issues and such.

I had a Tamron grip on my old XTi, it was awesome. I'll never own anything smaller than an 5DMKII without a grip.
