Finally got across town to my folks house...no power at mine. Spent today stripping out a neighbours house. Can't describe how shit it is loading a wheel barrow with someone's possessions, and dumping them on the side of the street. It's smelly, hard (everything weighs twice as much as normal), heartbreaking work. Glad I bought a house high and dry.

The coolest thing is people have been turning up from all over the place to help. Even kids getting around with drinks and food for people. Good to know there's plenty of good people around. The lamest thing is looters...hopefully not too many. As the Ipswich Mayor said...anyone caught looting will be nailed to a post at the high water mark!

Hope I get power back soon.

Just went and snapped some pics of the street behind ours (back access road to the Dam, gets closed off when they let water out)

The water at it's highest went up to those gates up the back. You can see a guy up there for comparison.

Guys, a brissie-based mate wrote this piece as he's a flood recovery specialist. Please pass it on if anyone you know has a house that went even a little way under in the flood - http://floodcleanup.wordpress.com/20...after-a-flood/

Bull sharks and yes they're true. Bull sharks can live in salt and fresh water and have been known to attack people in under 1m of water.

These floods are fucked. As I posted in the This is Pictures thread, 75% of the state is underwater (an area bigger than Germany France Belgium and half of Portugal) 13 are dead (including kids), +60 are missing and they expect 200,000 people to have their houses water damaged.

A few of my mates up there have lost almost everything :(

An American on LS1 forums asked about Australia, he wanted to know everything there is to know.... this was the first response: "Well one side of the country has tens of thousands of homes underwater. The other side of the country has bushfires. and in between is all desert. So when you moving here?"
lol it's funny cos' it's true.

I've been glued to the tv for 3 days now, havn't been able to get to work seeing as I go through the city, it's like watching some apocalyptic movie where everyones just waiting for things to go to shit. which it will in the morning..

That's shit, australia is an awesome country, I hope the flood gets whatever douches there are out there, and leaves the rest.
