343 worked on H3 with bungie and has worked designed most of the map packs for Reach.
Yeah, the system in Reach does suck. I've beat teams 50-0,1,2 almost every time I play.
I have been playing Black Ops recently, because I just recently left my team for Reach. But, down to play games whenever.
I don't think I have ever run into you before, F34R? I played 50 high team slayer, long wolves and swat in h3 and played a lot of swat in reach.
Here is a montage I made just messing around. I don't know how to embed a video?

No, also the bloom and jet packs in MLG
Are you trying to make a joke about the title? It is the first Halo to be released for the Xbox, so hence H1 ;)
The reality is that there is a ranking system, you just can't see it. The visible "points" and icons you see are a better indication of how much a person plays. However match making games are based in part on the statistical skill of each play in particular modes. This is why seemingly "low" ranked players will often times produce a balanced game against "high" ranked players. Parties start to screw this up though :)
Level icons are stupid when anyone can reach them in time. I get close to 4-9k points in reach per game(7-9k depends on challenges). It is just a waste and has no challenge anymore. I do enjoy SWAT very much, that seems to have stayed normal.
I get what you are saying about a ranking system. But I am talking about a REAL ranking system that cuts off trash players from matching me at my 50s. That is what I hate about Reach, I got Onyx the first week that shit game launched. I got it many more times after it was reset, so it is too easy to obtain. Also you cannot play people that are your skill range. I match silver and gold and it is a joke.
Personally you come off as the trash kids that praise Reach because of the point based ranking system. No offence =) That is why the n00bs love the CoD like ranking...don't have to be stuck at your 30s
P.S. I Don't need anymore "gold stars" I am a 5 star gen on two tags and a 3 star on another. I also have a 3 star in exp for two playlists. But they are not as cool as your gold bars though eh?
All I am saying really is I hope they don't fuck up H4. I do like Reach, just for me there is no challenge.Last edited by F34R; 06-07-2011, 06:11 PM.Leave a comment:

I was kinda hoping you were going somewhere with that...
In that case, I'll make you a game with just such a ranking system. It'll be unbalanced, ugly, incomprehensible, and crash :)I honestly don't give a flying fuck who makes it. ALL I want is there to be a proper ranking system. None of this fake points and gaining points from losing.
Did you mean that the only thing you'd change about Reach is the ranking system? The reality is that there is a ranking system, you just can't see it. I'm a die hard Bungie fan, I bought an XBox because of Halo CE :)I am a Halo die hard, I bought the Xbox BECAUSE of H1.
I'm all out of gold stars. I'll make sure to swing by wal-mart on the way home and pick up some more :)I have been competing at events and gained a 50 in every playlist.Leave a comment:

Called a "Ninja" in Halo ;)
If anyone honestly wants lessons I still do them =) I can improve your killing and game strats in just 30 minutes. Map control, weapon spawn time and team spawns. You will KNOW when and where everyone is when you kill them. This makes your team able to setup and control the game!
Want the rockets? Time them, then setup for spawn!Leave a comment:

ha you are pretty good with that backward jump hit! I will have to try that outLeave a comment:

@Earendil, I heard about a few things of 343 though online people. I honestly don't give a flying fuck who makes it. ALL I want is there to be a proper ranking system. (On topic)
Only story I fell in love with was the first one. The game play was MUCH harder and I was expecting more from Reach.
It is sad there is bloom when Master Chief can flip tanks over and carry .50cal turret mounted guns. The DMR SHOULD NOT HAVE BLOOM. I stopped playing Reach when MLG kept jet packs and loads of noobie settings.
I guess what I am getting at is I love competitive gaming. Reach does not have that one bit, not saying Reach sucked. It is just geared to next to no skill base. Get the power weapons and hide is what I have been seeing when I played it for a few months. I switch back and forth for my woman that plays Reach. So what I am hoping for is a "true skill" based leveling system. If you lose you derank, win more and go up. Simple and keeps the noobs out of my games.
If anyone wants to play Halo 3 or Reach I am down =)
General F34R or Siit Throat
This is my montage and what I do.

I'm honestly not exactly sure what you're saying here :)
The Halo games were not based on any Halo books. There were a few books based on the Halo universe though.
I'm not against it. But the OP said it was going to be made by Bungie, and it's not. If Honda came out with an "M3" and someone here claimed it was designed by the folks that made the original E30 M3, we might be excited. But if we found out it has nothing to do with the people that made the original M3, we'd be forced to call them out. Doesn't mean that the new Honda M3 will suck, but it is unlikely to be the same :)Fact is, we don't know yet how Halo 4 will turn out. We can speculate but those that are already against it? They are just developer sack hanging. Instantly prone towards negativism despite what it actually is. I'm optimistic towards Halo 4 as I would love to see where they take it. But then again, I'm not going to drop pre-conceived notions on "what it should be". I'm just along for the ride ;)
Like I said, I'm gonna give it a chance. I just have a generally low tolerance for "sequels" that are forced and just using the name to make a sale. If Bungie left them a story, and it's a good set of developers that care, and they aren't rushed, it has a lot of potential. If Bungie left them nothing, and a bunch of developers that are in it for the paycheck were told by Microsoft "Make another Halo, NOW!" my hope for the project goes down.Leave a comment:

If I recall Marathon and Myth correctly, that's what Bungie stories are. They are a smaller glimpse at something more epic, that doesn't always end in a nice little hollywood bow tie.
Also, I'm sure Bungie knew that they were never going to own the rights to Halo. It would have been kind of a jerk move (and contract damaging I'm sure) to "End" the Halo story, forcing Microsoft to find some way of bringing it back.
Like Reach?
The story from what my limited understanding is, is 7 books sequenced accordingly. Making "Reach" as their "final" game was contract damaging considering they arn't making any money via Microsoft anymore. Which I'm sure has it's merits but still.

I don't care about developers. 9 out of 10 times the original developer is either A. hog tied by the second game or B. sold so far out that they don't even care. Nothing but $$$ signs in their minds.
Halo 4 looks like a good refreshing teaser. Back to Halo 1 standards IMO. Reach was awesome. AWESOME game play. Ridiculous story line. I'll be honest, I was more of a Halo story line follower than a game player. I loved the story line and ever since Reach and the original developer's said it would be the last Halo game, I was reluctant to play Reach at all. I just don't think you can leave a fan base hanging on what Master Chief does next like they did. "So wait, you're going to leave us hanging, make ODST which sucked donkey balls and then make a Prequel? Fuck you."

Perhaps the story will be based on something that Bungie left behind for them. That would make it better. But without all the same people, it can't possibly be the same.Leave a comment:

I am interested, but to be clear this is NOT made by the people that made the previous Halo games.
The epic Game company that is Bungie studios, which was founded in 1991. They announced the first Halo game in 1999, Microsoft said "That's cool, here is a @#$% ton of money" and Bungie was bought by Microsoft to develop the game for the XBox instead of MacOS/Windows.
Bungie then made Halo 1, 2, 3 under Microsoft. In 2007 Bungie became independent again, and announced Halo Reach, the last Halo game they would make.
In the same year Microsoft spun up 343 Industries to manage what was left of Halo that Microsoft had something to do with. They are the ones developing Halo 4.
Bungie on the other hand has signed a 10 year publishing deal with Blizzard Activision to bring Bungie's next set of IP to "multiple platforms".
You can bet that Bungie is well on their way to the next big thing.
You can bet that Microsoft will beat the Halo franchise (which they own) into the ground.
I may end up buying Halo 4. But I'm unlikely to buy Halo 5, 6 or 7 :(Leave a comment:
