yea, I am a mopar guy myself, E body Cuda' was my first automotive love, and It has never left me. and YES everyone I KNOW that the base Dart with the leaning tower of power was no Muscle car.
a slant six 4door dart isnt what I think of when I think about a Dodge dart.
Mopar abody 68-70' Dart coupe, retaining stock looks with modernized brakes, suspension freshening, and Latemodel Hemi Swap is something I have been considering for along time.
*Edit* mostly because I have been priced out of the Cuda' game

Yeah there are a few Mopar guys on here. I may have GMs, but my heart will aways be with Mopar. And for people not caring about the name, i find it kind of odd that people on an BMW forum is even complaining it lol.Leave a comment:

I don't get why people are so hatefull of using the dart name. It is made for the same purpose and market segment as the original...
Dart of the '60s = Bottom of the line grocery-getter
Dart of the now = Bottom of the line grocery getter
I'm sure that down the line MoPaR will come up with some 'option packages' with this econo-car just like they did in the '60s. You just have to realize that the days of 7 MPG daily cruisers are no more, and this Dart will probably out perform the basic Dart o' the 1960s.

Um guys, darts are like e30's. They come in different models. For the most part they was economy cars with a slantsix, 273, or 318. But hipo cars was offered too, like 340 Swingers and GTS 340, 383 or 440 models. Even the early darts you could get a 273 hipo in the GT models.Leave a comment:

Yes, there was an econo dart but it was called the feather light which often had its guts ripped out and a bigger heart was installed because the rolling chassis "about" 300lbs less than the standard chassis. But most darts from the factory were equiped with an 318 or 340.Leave a comment:

you must not be familiar with the 340 swinger or the 68' hemi Dart, or the Dart GTS(340, 383, 440ci V8's). or the Dart with 273 or 318 V8's

im well aware of the differance between the 318 poly and LA 318. Why would someone bother putting that lump in a 75 dart? Then yes if you did put a poly in the 66 then it wasnt a drop in cause the poly is wider and the fenderwells are narrower in a 66 A body compaired to the fenderwells in a 67 and up A bodyI never said it wasn't a direct drop in, I said shoe-horned because it was a tight fit.
Yanking the 6 and dropping the 8 took a lot more than a V8 K member...it took a hell of a lot of time and patience and "persuasion"
That's always been the meaning of shoe-horn to me but maybe you're using some other meaning that I've never come across.

I don't like it. I'm especially disgusted with the name. Dodge almost had some street cred in the import crowd with the SRT Neon. Perhaps "American" car companies will someday understand there is a big market for a well built small car and design a proper one.Leave a comment:
