Thats what an ultrabook would be good for.
Tablets are devices for consuming media and nothing else.
Wife is considering an ASUS Eee Pad Transformer....

Its not really the browser's fault, a lot of websites arent really developed with tablets in mind. Change the user agent string to desktop and you should be fine.
Like said, we use the fuck out of ours. Mine is more of a mobile entertainment and occasional work machine (the office suite on it is quite good and there are remote desktop apps to control my big computer from anywhere in the world). The girlfriend uses it as her primary mobile computer in the lab. They have tower computers for number crunching and running equipment so she just needed something to review data and present off of.Leave a comment:

use dolphin browser (or any downloadable browser) and set the "user agent" as desktop.
On a side note, I really did like the transformer when I had it. But, I had little use for it and I sold it for swap parts  Getting a new laptop in the summer so who cares for tablets.Leave a comment:

Anyone have an idea how to set the browser to NOT use mobile pages?
I've looked through general and browser settings and can't seem to find it. She only uses it with a WiFi connection, so the mobile pages just suck.Leave a comment:

It is awesome for that. YOu can get a USB adapter if you camera allows itself to be used as a drive or you can just get a micro SD to SD card adapter for putting a micro SD into your camera and then view the big pictures on the TF.
I use the hell out of my OG TF. ITs great for traveling.Leave a comment:

I was messing with one at bestbuy yesterday. They are so cool and I love ASUS stuff, I plan on getting it for personal media and internet. One of the best things is the keyboard, so cool! Not to mention it is insanely thin and all the functions are VERY fast. I say over all it is not a replacement for a laptop, but VERY useful. I wish I had one to take on my flight to FL this month.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I'd basically want it as a toy.
Or possibly something to download vids/track info to at the track, so you have a proper screen to look at.Leave a comment:

It's a great device, I am not doubting it, but it's not a replacement for someone who uses pc's for hard use. (Design, SQL, Monitoring and the like), so no, it's not meant to be a replacement no matter how you look at it. Since someone mentioned "new transformer" , I am curious to look it up now :)Leave a comment:

Sitting on the charger now, just got through getting it setup for most of her stuff.
She has a light day tomorrow, so she'll get a chance to play around with and get more familiar with it.
I want one even though I don't need one.Leave a comment:

My sister bought one to use and it is OK for light work.
The targeting resolution of the touch screen is pretty bad compared to an iPad.Leave a comment:

[QUOTE=Jean;2985577]iPad sucks anyways who cares about it, none of these devices are a REPLACEMENT for a PC (since someone above commented on it).
It's a nice "addon" for being lazy on the couch or something lighter to take with you etc.
There have been a number of studies/tests done to support this, these aren't powerful enough to do anything other than web/email use and light application use.
I've also looked at the Asus Transformer, i like how they give you an option to add a physical keyboard. Nice touch!
I'll wait a bit to see what else will be out this year.[/QUOTE
BUT, there are users out here with needs that only include light computing. My mother does nothing but light internet browsing and email. We are going to use iCloud to store her pictures and iPhoto to manage them. A full blown computer for her is to much for her to deal with. I find the iPad to be very versatile. Kids 16 months and up love them.Leave a comment:
