I don't smoke. Used to socially but now that bars around here ban smoking, that doesn't happen either.

A buddy of mine, 8 year US Army vet, smoker, DI at Fort Jackson: Gets a new CO who runs. CO anounces at muster that anyone who finishes the PT run ahead of him gets the day off. Bish is still smoking when the race starts, field strips the butt and sticks it in his pocket as he falls in behind the new CO, starts pacing him and wondering out loud where he will go on his day off. The beach, the pool, so many possibilities, can't wait to leave, etc. Passes the new CO in a sprint to the finish. This went on for almost a week. Bish gets promoted, new hat, different group, problem solved. He was a rare talent and I can't argue he wouldn't have been better without the cigs.

Same with my uncle. Battle-hardened from the Lebanese/Israel wars.
He started when he was 15 and is 55 iirc.

Smokes like a chimney as well without a problem.

    I *NEED* to quit.

I'm 32, not getting any younger (not that it matters)

I really only started smoking (5-7 a day) at a later age in life...
it's bullshit, i'm really pissed off at myself over this.

and like Lambo said...he's had his father suffer through the consequences of smoking.

my dad died at 47 after smoking for 30+ years.

I'm not going down that path...fuck no.

if set myself a quit date, and stick to it and use a patch or other smoking cessation aid i'm all good.

had quit for a good 4 months.

took E30 out of storage, changed oil, and did a couple little things to it-

dealt with a striped/seized bolt and BOOM...hits me like a ton of bricks

it's all a cruel mental game.

I do socially, and with my GF. Mainly with her so she has one less for herself. Trying to get her to quit, you see.

I did habitually for a while, but then realized the money I could be saving. Now I use that money on lottery tickets. $500 million Va lottery BABY!

No cigarettes for me, I don't know why people who take pride in their vehicles would smoke with them.

Never have and after seeing my Dad go through heart problems because of smoking, I never will. Just a personal choice, I have no problem with people who smoke.
