Looking for a new college to continue my Automotive Associates.. In Tristate.

This is kinda long, but I will try to sum it up.

I started community college back in '09 with intents of an Art Major. I took a lot of basics, and art classes, after a year of that I decided it is more of a hobby and changed it to automotive.

In Fall '10 I had started my automotive associates, getting solid a's/b's. Took welding, and all my non automotive classes aswell.

Basically, in the spring of 2012, I had 3 remaining classes. Advanced Engine Diagnosis, Concepts of physics, and auto trans repair. Advanced Engine Diagnosis and Concepts of physics were the same time schedule. After much haggling to change the time/make one online/private study, they could not work anything out. So I had taken Concepts of physics since I am not particulary the math kind, and wanted an easy last semister. So Currently I am taking auto trans and concepts of physics, and they said I could graduate Fall 2012 after I took my last remaining Engine Diagnosis class.

Turns out, they bent me over. Yet again. I should have graduated this spring, but now they YET changed the associates program again. They are requiring another Business class (since so many automotive students straight from college have enough money to go start a business, and the intro business class wasnt enough apparently). On top of that, they are reviving the much dreaded Heating and Cooling systems in cars, which they had removed due to a lack of students when I had signed up for this semister. Worst part yet, is this class is not even offered in the Fall. Its offered in the spring as a Possibility.

Basically, they are postponing my graduation another semister, or basically a year after I could have graduated. I am very angered by this since it costs me atleast 10$ each day to drive (since all the classes fall on separate days, 2 days a week), and thus costing me days I cannot work.

I am meeting with someone tomorrow to discuss this, but I am pretty through with this college. Everything is very poorly planned, and the automotive classes lack cars to work on and are often just "free shop time".

I am wondering if you guys have any recommendations of colleges local in the tristate area to consider for an automotive degree. I cant this mess of a college anymore. Also, if you guys have any input on how to help me, that would be great. I didnt really mean to bitch and moan, but its just fustrating pursuing a 2 year school for nearly 4 years, and still not close to graduating due to new arisen bullshit classes.

If they change the program that's fine but you shouldn't have to conform to their new regulations...basically, you should only be required to complete what was required of you when you first signed up...at least that's how it works at Mason

same at VCU, they realized they screwed up a little when they put out the requirements for the new nuclear engineering concentration because they didnt require reactor physics. they cant do a thing about it other than strongly suggest we take it and revise the requirements for the new kids.

Same here. Although my school had a requirement that if it was a two year degree, if you took longer then 2 years to complete it, you then also had to take any other new classes added to the degree.

I would see if you can petition it. I had to do it because I took my last required class the summer term after I should have graduated and they were going to make me take a few more classes. I just wrote a letter to the dean explaining the situation and they let it slide.

This college isnt the best with communication. I had the head of votech take a week to respond to my email reguarding a previous request.

When i checked out my major assessment, it was automatically updated with the new classes. I was hoping not incase they deny and i would have proof. Plus have the guidance counslers are far from knowing anything about automotive majors since its located on another campus.

Im going to make sure i could graduate. I was going to talk to them today but spent the day patching rust on my e30 lol.
