A temporary fix could be this mod:

I use it on my VB site and it works perfectly. Although you'll have to find the old version for this version of VB.
Also VSA (Advanced Registration) is a good plugin that prevents spam bots from registering.

Seems the site could use at least a few more folks with ban and post delete privileges. Yes I'm volunteering.Leave a comment:

Its annoying but a little extra scrolling does bother so much. Once it becomes full first page of spam or more in any subforum is when ill draw the line. otherwise I shall trust James and the mods are working hard for usLeave a comment:

It's nice that everyone is concerned but most of the suggestions are a bit unrealistic. James IS going to be upgrading the forum software which will help with this issue. It's not something that can be done at the snap of his fingers AND he's currently on vacation.
No needs to tell the mods we're not doing a good job. Most of us are big boys with real jobs and although our R3V paychecks are quite large we still can't catch them all within the first 30 seconds. ;)Leave a comment:

Yes this is very true...the database needs to be updated for newer browser support, updated language support, script support, but most importantly security...theres a reason they do updates, neglecting updating software esp online software is like neglecting an oil change...it may be okay for awhile, but eventually you create more problems than you can fix with a "quick fix"It's my understanding from folks who are knowledgeable with this sort of thing that this forum's vBull software needs to be upgraded. There's a pretty big pucker factor involved when doing that with a forum this size, so until the necessary testing is complete we're just going to have to keep reporting the spammers and hoping the mods can continue to stay on top of it as best they can.Leave a comment:
