The Bronx
This is a classic Prohibition-era cocktail
1 1/2oz Hayman's Old Tom Gin (a relative of London Dry Gin, but smoother with a touch of sweetness
1/2oz Dolin Dry Vermouth
1/2oz Dolin Sweet Vermouth
Juice of 1/2 orange, fresh squeezed
Pour all ingrediantes into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake briefly. Strain into a Martini glass ('up' glass)
Ingredients are important! Don't use a shitty vermouth (Cinzano, Gallo, M&R, etc.). I love Dolin, but Noilly Pratt is good, too. And because Vermouth is a wine-bsed product, it doesn't keep forever (a few weeks, at most), and should be stored chilled.Leave a comment:

Old Fashioned (Bourbon or Rye)
Manhattan (Rye), for a nice twist throw a small splash of Grand Marnier and orange bitters in
Those are about the only two things I'll order when at a bar/nice restaurant. Possibly a Vodka Tonic if I'm feeling lame.
However our favorite Italian place in town has two other cocktails that I will order there that are fantastic.
BOB W (Best of both Worlds)
- This is a pint of Coop DNR (OKC beer) 11% alcohol, then the pour a shot of Woodford Reserve on top. Incredibly well balanced and tasty, and STRONG.
Aldo the Apache
- George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey, Aperol, Grand Marnier, Sweet Vermouth...........forget the portions, have to look when I get home as I had the bartender give me the recipe.Leave a comment:
